I always wanted to do OB/gyn..labor and delivery, or like pediatrics. I love pregnancy and babies. But, I don't know if I'll necessarily like nursing just because I'm interested in babies, ob/gyn stuff and I'd like to help people and such..

Well, the hospital RN program is just a diploma and I'm working on my associates degree right now. If I got in, I would start in the Fall and wouldn't be done with my Associates yet. So, I'd have to go back for about 6-7 credits to finish my associates. I'm really scared to go back in it and decide I can't do it again! Yeah, my anxiety is bad, I heard on the news nurses mis calculated the dosages for twin babies there okay now..but still!! AH I freak myself out!

Well, I've done research and heres the scenario..I will have my associates degree in May. I can then go to the hospital based diploma Rn program, part time for 2 years (they make you got two years even if you are transferring in credits, just taking less credits a semester) I can go right into a bsn program or I can go on to get a bachelors in bio which will take me two more years and then a one year second bachelors degree in nursing. I figured 3 years for a bsn and 2 years for a diploma school was something to look at. what do you think>?

hey, the hospital based program is an RN program. I dropped out of the BSN program. I don't know it was foolish but I felt horrible in the program. I had a lot on my mind and kept really debating if i REALY can be a nurse, or is this a dream. I ended up failing patho with a 50. I thought I was doing so bad I stopped going for two tests and the final and still got a 50, imagine if I took those tests. My mind is so powerful because I though seriously I cannot be a nurse. I know its going to be hard but it can be done. I just had a hard time with patho even studying hours on end..I don't know maybe Im not smart enough, thats what i always though. All the girls in my class were like lpns and knew so much..

hey, congrats! I am so happy for you, I honestly which I was in your shoes or somewhat in them! I feel like..I'm so nervous, I'm scared to take out another loan and give it another chance. I blew about 8,000 dollar loan and stopped my first semester because I was scared but I really thought nursing was for me. I didn't even get to be in a clinical or anything so how would I really know? I am psyching myself out my mom keeps saying. I always wanted to be a nurse since high school and now with the economy its the BEST field to go into with so many specialties I can do. SHould I give it another chance? Here are my options:

    1. I can apply to a 4 year BSN program (I have my associates so the program will be 2 years full time. OR
    2. I can go to a hospital based program, since I have my associates degree, I will get my diploma in nursing there. Its a mandatory 2 years even if you completed credits. So I'd be going 2 years part time. That means less stress on me. Probably one, the max two classes per semester since all pre-reqs are complete.

    What do you think?

my friends keep telling me I'm not the only one scared but when I read threads on here how people say nursing schools is and how there lives are different and how they lost their friends and how nursing is a horrible field, it really makes me wonder. At this point I'm completely undecided. I thought about being a Science Teacher because here in Northern NJ they get paid in the 50s and I love Science and I get all holidays and weekends off. But, if I were ever to travel I guess I couldn't because teaching isn't a great job else where in the US. Nurses here get paid starting at 75k and up. I'm not sure about where you live but here they get paid a ton. I feel like the liability in nursing is a lot and I'm so scared of making a mistake, I guess everyone is. Especially making a drug calc error...ahhh im nervous thinking of it
