    Hi Lilly,

I was reading one of your responses about getting into a nursing program after graduting with an average GPA in college. You mentioned that your experiences AFTER graduation were really effective in getting into nursing schools. Could you recommend anything that I could do to make myself more marketable to a direct entry program? My alma mater offers a good direct entry program so I'm going to try to get some solid recommendations from there...

    Thanks,

    Hey Lilly,

I totally understand about the specialty thing. Though, i know of 2 people who switched from adult care into psych and another friend told me that 2 of the pediactric students they spoke to used to be psych but switched. so i think its POSSIBLE to switch..they just dont like it and you probably just have to bug them and make a very strong case. I'm having similar feelings in that i may want to get into acute care rather than psych...but I'm just going to cry and cry until they give in (that is, if i go to yale and if i have a change of heart). As for the BSN, I personally know im not going to work as an RN after school...i will def try to get shifts while in school, so overall, its not that important to me. Luckily, i dont think we can make a wrong decision...and it's only 3 years of our lives. Maybe this is the wrong attitude to have, but deep down i feel i may regret turning down yale (regardless of the fact that where you go to NP school isnt as important as...law or business school for example). I say you (and I) should go where you see yourself...whatever program gives you that excited feeling. For me, i get that feeling about yale...but then i have an hour of getting nervous i wont be happy in new haven or at the program etc. anyways, good luck with your choice. keep me updated on what you end up doing...we MAY be classmates in a few months!

Hey, I applied to Yale's oncology cns program and was accepted. Are you planning on going? What day were you interviewing? I might have been in your group!

what kind of information are you looking for? I have narrowed that down to one of my top choices. I went to an admissions event a few weeks ago, and it made me like it even more. If you have any specific questions let me know and I will try to help.
