Thank you so much for your kind response
No, not Australia, California....but am an avid Kangaroo care practitioner in our unit. I see you are from Australia yes? I love your pictures on your avatar
I hope that God will continue to give me strength...I want to be a NICU nurse forever...I just need to learn to take care of me too...it is hard to remember this sometimes.
Best wishes to you too
Christine - Hi, I just read your post and wanted to send you a comforting greeting.
Are you in Australia? From your username, it would indicate so.
There are some things in nursing which we never really get used to. Experiences such as you had with that dear baby tend to linger. Sometimes they fade, with time, but traumatic experiences don't only leave their lasting impression on people other than nurses. Nurses are human first and foremost. We also are greatly affected by the things which impact on us.
The wise thing to do is seek counselling after such experiences. It doesn't change what happened, but it can help us process and deal with it in a way which can make it more manageable in our hearts and mind.
Keep up your good work and best wishes to you.
Regards,
Grace
