Hey Shelly!! Oh man, you guys may be getting orders to Hawaii, eh? Which branch of service? My husband is in the Navy and we have been less than enamored with the experience. On to your question... the Masters Entry Program in Nursing has its benefits and detriments (as I am learning now). I just finished the prelicensure year and passed the NCLEX a couple of weeks ago. The problem is finding a JOB here. They aren't hiring new grads and since the program does not confer any sort of degree at the end of the 1st year (no BSN, ADN, certificate, etc), many HR departments do not have a protocol for hire (including Tripler). So now I am a licensed, unemployed nurse. Not so glamorous. It is the expectation that when you start the masters portion of the program that you will be gainfully employed so you can add real world experience to the discussions. I am not sure what they are planning for us, since none of us are working and are integrated into the regular masters program. I would caution you that the program is 3 years and there really isn't any way to transfer. Service dependent, you guys will probably be here for 3 years, but as we all know, things can change very quickly. You are going to be stuck here until you are done. Just something to think about.... I'd be more than happy to answer any specific questions you have. Good luck... maybe I will meet your here in the 3rd world country of Hawaii!!
