Hello! My biggest complaint about Texas Tech would be their lack of communication and handling documentation. Not every mail was forwarded to my mailbox, or so they claimed. There was a miscommunication involved that led me to believe that I got admitted to their Fall 2008 program. Eventually, I was waitlisted and haven't heard from them since. My 3.00ish GPA has helped me to land on their waiting list and they were really considerate to do such a thing. I say that because I was denied to numerous schools. I was eventually admitted to two schools on the first try. My advice to you is regardless of what GPA or credentials you may have, apply to many schools as possible in a timely fashion. If you think you met their minimum requirements, go ahead and apply! Location, housing, transportation, school’s reputation, and financing should be the least of your concerns as this moment. Worry about that part later until you get admitted. But for now, you need to first worry about how to get your foot through the door. With the uncompetitive GPA that I had as a pre-nursing student, I knew I had a very slim chance of getting admitted. So my approach of beating all odds was to apply everywhere that I see fit. I also repeated some of my classes for the sake of improving my GPA and to appear a competitive applicant. Repeat a class if you have to unless the school you wish to apply accepts the given grade on the first attempt. UTEP is one of these schools. Opps! I just realized that my intention of typing a quick reply has turned into a novel. Haha. I hoped I answered your question well. Feel free to contact me if you have additional questions.
