Hi lilcristal, how long did you have to wait after you took the NET until you heard from Baptist...when they told you that you've been accepted to their nursing program? Did you receive a letter in the mail, or was it an email? I took the NET on Saturday, and they told us that it would be a week until we could call the school for our scores, but I'd like to know when I can expect to hear from them, for them to tell me if I've been accepted. Thanks for your info!

Haha! Yeah, it was hard trying to get a hold of anyone at SAC. I even emailed someone there and by the time they responded, it had been MONTHS, and by that time, I already decided to go with Baptist. I called the number Baptist has on their website. It's a 297 number, and I've spoken to two people who were very nice and helpful: Pesha Mabrie, and a lady named Marion (don't know her last name). They've always been able to answer all my questions.

No, I didn't apply anywhere else. I was going to apply at SAC also, but it was like pulling teeth trying to get a hold of anyone there, and when I did, it seemed like they didn't really want to help. Also, I heard that they were getting very competitive there, and only accepting students with a very high GPA, which I don't have, so I didn't even bother. Did you apply at SAC?

Oh good! I'm glad there isn't too much algebra on the NET. Now I know to brush up and study mostly fractions and decimals. Thanks for your response, and maybe we'll run into each other at Baptist this fall!

Yes, it's an associates degree now. They recently changed it. It used to be a diploma program. So you already took the NET? How was the math portion? What kinds of math questions are on it? I was told that the reading comprehension and the math portions are the ones that really count, and I'm nervous, because math is my weakest subject! I've been studying a guide I bought at Barnes and Noble, but it would be helpful to know exactly what kinds of math problems are on it. I would appreciate any info....thanks!!

Hi lilcristal! Yes, the application did seem different. I guess that's how it is when you fill it out online now. The deadline to complete everything (application, take the NET, and attend open house) is May 1st. Did you apply for the evening program too? Have you already signed up to take the NET? I believe the last test date is April 11th, which is when I'm taking mine. Let me know if there's anything else you need to know!

Hello! My biggest complaint about Texas Tech would be their lack of communication and handling documentation. Not every mail was forwarded to my mailbox, or so they claimed. There was a miscommunication involved that led me to believe that I got admitted to their Fall 2008 program. Eventually, I was waitlisted and haven't heard from them since. My 3.00ish GPA has helped me to land on their waiting list and they were really considerate to do such a thing. I say that because I was denied to numerous schools. I was eventually admitted to two schools on the first try. My advice to you is regardless of what GPA or credentials you may have, apply to many schools as possible in a timely fashion. If you think you met their minimum requirements, go ahead and apply! Location, housing, transportation, school’s reputation, and financing should be the least of your concerns as this moment. Worry about that part later until you get admitted. But for now, you need to first worry about how to get your foot through the door. With the uncompetitive GPA that I had as a pre-nursing student, I knew I had a very slim chance of getting admitted. So my approach of beating all odds was to apply everywhere that I see fit. I also repeated some of my classes for the sake of improving my GPA and to appear a competitive applicant. Repeat a class if you have to unless the school you wish to apply accepts the given grade on the first attempt. UTEP is one of these schools. Opps! I just realized that my intention of typing a quick reply has turned into a novel. Haha. I hoped I answered your question well. Feel free to contact me if you have additional questions.
