Hey! Are you in the ADN program at Athens Tech? If yes, can you share your experience? I read a post from a few weeks ago that claimed ATC's ADN program was horrible and that only 22 out of 52 students remained. Also, what's it like, and do you have any tips on how to succeed in this program? I'm applying for the Fall 2009 classes and should get in since I have a 4.0 GPA and a high NLN score, but the negative message that was posted has cast a shadow over my joy! I NEED to be a nurse, and, without good instructors, I don't know if I can do it!

That's what I'm worried about. I can take classes and get points and get in. My cumulative gpa isn't very good. But I emailed an instructor at atc who replied that other than eng101, math110, and bio210, my other grades wouldn't count against me. is that true, or will they look at other stuff? the application only asks for your gpa based on those three grades, which will DEFINITELY be above 3.0.

Lol, I forgot to write this earlier, but I almost got in a fistfight with a snarky CNA on the first day of my med-surg clinical! Not good; alls well that ends well, we ended up friends. Have fun and make all the friends on the floor you can.

Hi. I saw you attend ATC. If you don't mind my asking, what was the point range for those accepted in your class? I'm applying for fall 09.

    Hi there!
I feel like I know you- I read a few of your posts and you sound a lot like me! I'm 28 though, and don't have any kids yet!!! I'm about to start med surg/ OB rotation but first we do a rotation at the nursing home- (yes, our CNA's and nurses were not too fond of us either- like you said) but at the nursing home we do a clinical management rotation. I think we get a full case load. Anyways, just wanted to say "hey!" and best of luck to you! Maybe we could help eachother out- I spend alot of my free time studying too and recently have discovered the art of test taking through NCLEX books and the "success" series books- I swear by them! Test taking is totally a game, and I hate that, so I am trying to make sure I understand all the info and also play the "what is the teacher going to want me to know for the test?" game. I bought a Med surg success book and it has tons of questions about the systems and diseases related to them- I've been working on it during break when I have a few spare minutes here and there.
Nice to meet ya' and hope to hear from you soon!
