I had been sooooooo tempted to go back to school. I had considered HIM and database management. And also clinical research coordinating, epidemiology, genetic counseling, and more. How could I decide? I already had a nursing degree that hadn't turned out the way I'd hoped. So I decided instead to just look for a job that felt right and see where that might lead. That turned out to be a good choice for me.
I started applying to health care related positions, such as administrative positions in local hospitals. That led to a position with a hospital library. I did that for a few years and then started looking at the hospital job board again. I managed to land a job collecting and submitting patient information for a national registry along with other whatever other data collections that might come up for the department. In this position, I've had the opportunity to also learn about medical record coding and billing, which should serve me well in the future.

Hello,
I read your posts regarding clinical nursing. I was wondering if you could tell me about your current career. I recently researched HIM but was wondering if I would have to go back to school, training, salary, different areas of the field, etc. I know you probably get bombarded with questions, but I'm at my wits end and I need a solution and get away from bedside nursing.
