I have never lived in either city I actually live in Houston but work very closely with both facilities. Port Arthur is a refinery city that has suffered some severe economic setbacks in recent years, including being smacked by hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike. Beaumont is not a huge place, but has all the ammenities of most small cities.

I love working for CHRISTUS and St. Elizabeth is (IMO) our most stellar facility. They have wonderful nursing leadership, and a very strong education department.

Plus - you're only 100 miles from Houston, so you don't have to be deprived of any major shopping or entertainment. We're waaaay better than Dallas!

I am a new grad currently speaking with a recruiter who has a manager that is very interested in meeting me. The thing is, that it's for St Mary's in Port Arthur or St Eliz. in Beaumont and I have heard such awful things about both of those cities. I had lived in Dallas for 29 years, and just finished nsg school in Louisville, KY and want to move back to Texas. What can you tell me about those 2 cities? I really want to work for Christus, they sound wonderful. Thanks in advance. Joanne
