- Hey! I am very happy with my accelerated BSN program. I am at Cleveland State University in Ohio. I am just about to finish up my first quarter, and we start clinicals next quarter. So far the schedule is not too hectic, but I really don't have anything else going on (no job, husband, kids, etc). We have class most of the day Mon-Thurs, Fri-Sun off. It is nice to have the long weekend, but we have been warned that it will not be like that every semester! Once we start clinicals I think the schedule will get a bit tighter. I am excited (and nervous) because we are doing our clinicals at the Cleveland Clinic. I study/do homework/papers for about 2 hours a night during the week and probably about 4-6 hours/day on the weekends, and my grades are very good so far. You can probably get away with spending a lot less time and doing less work, but I'm a perfectionist and I really do want to learn everything well so I don't look stupid in clinicals. I am sure you will do well, I am living on campus and there are several people in my class that moved here just for the program, we are the ones who are doing the best because we have the fewest distractions. It is hard NOT to do homework when you are away from most of your friends & family! Plus, if you want it bad enough to move, that is half the battle. The people who were just going into it for the $ and half-assing things are already struggling in my program. If you want it badly and you put in some hard work, you will excel. I know I haven't been in long to give that sort of advice, but I am basing it off of talking to the accelerated class here that is about to finish. Their advice to us was: YOU CAN DO IT! Haha! From what they said, there will be times when you think you're going to fail and you just can't possibly learn everything so fast (I haven't encountered that feeling YET) but they said trust them, you can do it, just stick with it. The professors have been great and very understanding, too. Many of my professors are still practicing RN's so we get great stories that makes everything much easier to learn. Good luck with your program, you will do great, you can put up with anything for a year! Let me know if you have any other questions that I didn't answer!
