- No problem! And yes, you request all of the money at once, but they split it up between semesters. My suggestion is that you request as much as you can/need. Stressing over money is not fun and it's expensive to live here. NYU sets a limit to how much money you are allowed to receive in student loans for the school year, and if you're living off campus it barely seems like enough. I think there are ways to request more if you think you need it, but I haven't done that before so I don't have the info. But definitely call financial aid if you have questions. They're very helpful

- The money goes to the school first. They subtract tuition and fees and then they cut you a check for the rest. It takes a week or two to get that check so I never have money the first two weeks of the semester. I did finally sign up for direct deposit though, so I suggest doing that. And I have no complaints with Citibank. They've been great and it's easy and all online.
- Congrats! It doesn't matter where you go, you are officically a nursing student. So, are you going through the accelerated program? If so, we will be graduating at the same time.
- hey there!
I actually majored in biology and was one class away from a minor in chemistry, so I didn't have any issues with my chem credits. I'm not sure why you would need to take a liberal arts class to make up the credit, but you could call Lindsay Sutton and she could probably explain it to you.. Sorry I'm not more helpful
- check your PM. So, you are starting your first semester this fall? You must be really excited?
- Hey there! I got an externship & start next month!
- No, I do med/surg next semester. Start looking at externships now, and you should already be collecting recommenation letters from professors and clinical instructors now.
Even if you don't have med/surg experience, apply anyway. What can they do? Nothing, lol, so just apply. I got an interview with a hospital that required med/surg. I never expected then to call me, I just applied thinking Oh well, it's not like they will curse me out. But for now, try to start listing your top externship choices. I was looking up externships when I was in pre-reqs. Good luck. Some require an essay, and there is no harm in working on them now. - May 01, 2009 01:02 PM - permalinkguiltysinsHey there, just figured I'd add another LIU nursing student, you're a year ahead of me though as I won't start clinicals until next year. I'm in my last year of pre-reqs at the school. Congrats on your acceptance and I know that a lot of people haven't had many great things to say about the program as far as organization but we can only hope it'll improve =)
- I left a message with them a few months ago and still haven't received a call back. When it comes to the nursing department, you are better off going to them in person.
