I only finished my BackSmart annual assessment the week before! But if they fall on you...
Very pleased about a cool change today, especially as I am air con-free - I agree with you about the drapes (or in my case blinds): free and effective One of my favourite things about Melbourne is that we rarely have long runs of unrelenting heat - though, if last year was any indicator, that is no guarantee. And I know I said this before but we are in for a nasty fire season.

Glad the heat is not (yet?) getting you down

Glad the back's not worse after that encounter! Whatever happened to the no manual handling rule?! Boy it's bloody hot here! I'm coping ok, mostly staying indoors, a/c on, drapes mostly closed (an old fashioned but very effective way of reflecting the heat) and drinking lots of H2O! Trying to keep the garden/lawns alive, and ensuring the pooches are ok. Might venture out today and go to a movie. Can't spend the entire heatwave cooped up here in the house! Thankfully no fires and hoping we escape any at all. So much undergrowth though after good spring rains. Fingers crossed.

Since when is November so vile? Long, dry, hot summer ahead and they predict worse bushfires for us this season than last, which is confronting after Black Saturday

My hand is okay - a little tight when hoicking patients up the bed or (as I predicted) doing a manual BP, especially those hypertensive ones. I did my back last week when a 130k walrus half fell on me but am back at work and fine. For some reason we have nobody on leave and I have a bucket of ADO and UBS hours so I have been working three and four day weeks, which is awesome! With three days off and two sick days I only had 2 PM shifts and now have four off (uni all day tomorrow but still...), two on, three off...

Apart from baked to a crisp how are you? A friend in Port Augusta says she will come here for a cool change!

Hey, if experience doesn't affect your behaviour there's no point having it Besides, I'm not completely commited to the idea myself - I go back to work on Monday after almost three months off (combined sick/surgical and long service leave) and will decide then.

The hand's coming along but I'm a little nervous, especially about taking manual BPs and transferring patients, but I've got a great hand therapist who's happy to give me a certificate if I need it, a great boss who's happy for me to take time off if I need to, and buckets of leave up my sleeve if I need it so it's sweet

Yep, I'm a wuss I know. But I'll be buggared if I'm fronting up for another vaccination after my experiences in past years! I'll take my chances and hope I'm spared! lol
Sooo .... how'd the trip end up? Did you have a nice time?
