- Hey.. Thanks so much for responding.. Me and Maria (kitti419) are good friends and I did get in to the ejgh program 2009 .. Can you tell me anything about schedule hours and all of that from you experience..
- Hi, Med. Term is a required prereq now although it was not when I took the course. There were so many failures from this class it is good that they have you take it before starting. The email address for Nakia is NBodley@ololcollege.edu
Things are ok. I was doing great until I had a med error. On the scale of a-H, a being the least problem I had an A but it took me back a bit since I have a problem with expecting perfection from myself. It was hard to have a med error when Medication is my strong point. A doctor forgot the frequency and I did not catch it. Now I have to have a senior nurse with me for a while which I feel is a set back. Very upsetting. I logically understand that I will make mistakes but...
Anyhoo... Are you still excited about school? - Mar 15, 2009 08:34 PM - permalinkNShoreNurse2BHey Donna
Do you have the name of the lady from Our Lady of the Lake that you told me about before? Or the e-mail address? I'd really appreciate it. I am registering for the summer semester for Delgado next week and I wanted to double check before I registered that what I'm taking will transfer.
Also do you remember if Medical Terminology is required or recommended before getting into OLOL? I've heard it's a good idea to take it before going but it's on the curriculm so I'm kind of confused.
Thanks for the help. How are things at WJ?
Susanna - Feb 22, 2009 06:35 PM - permalinkNShoreNurse2BHi Donna
This is Susanna. Kathy's friend. Hope you don't mind me adding you here. Thanks for telling me about this place - I would love to send you the Pharm notes, but my computer is on the blink and being repaired. If you ask on a blog for someone to send them to you, you may get lucky. I have sent them to enough people so someone should help you.
Truefully, I am not sure that I would do this program knowing what I know now. I needed to get out and working but we are woefully unprepared for nursing. All nurses say that, however the clinical time we have in only 10 mths is short. Advice... volunteer for everything you can when you start clinicals. Most people hid and did not want to try IV's etc. That was not a good idea.
I am not working at Tulane thank goodness. I applied for and was hired for a Peds floor at another hospital. I did not want to work the Med surg floor. However as time goes on, I see the wisdom of putting a new nurse on a Med-Surg floor. It is all about getting as much clinical practice as possible.
If you put OLOL in the search box there will be plenty of blogs dealing with the program. Also there are blogs dealing with being a new nurse that have helped me tremendously.
Good luck and let me know when you hear something about being accepted.

I'm waiting to hear whether I've been accepted into the OLOL nursing program, and I saw your advice about prepping for pharmacology! I was wondering if you would still be willing to share your notes? And whether you know of any other blogs about the program or getting started as an RN?
How has it been to graduate from the program? Are you working at Tulane now?
