I sent your request for help up the chain, and Joe V, our Systems Administrator, has been contacted. Hopefully, he will get this straightened out for you. If you don't hear from him soon, you can PM him @ http://allnurses.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=202625 Best wishes to you.

My point is that in general I feel that newer nurses need to learn from us who are more experienced that they should not be relying on a discussion board for matters that really require a strong valid quotable source. Evidence based practice does not mean to use Internet discussion boards as evidence in most cases.

I do believe that there is great info out here on Allnurses and we are able to get information that simply is not available elsewhere about opinions and experiences of nurses, but if we can find the info we need on the CDC website (or other valid source), that is more appropriate information on which to base clinical decisions and actions that effect patient outcomes.

I also mentioned that "If this is an issue for you at work, I would certainly verify this and check for updates to this and other info at CDC.gov since things are changing rapidly. Might be good to also check WHO.int and your state health department website to get info. Third, be certain you are also following your hospitals policy and procedures as well. Always get facts from reputable/reliable sources." and I hope you did not interpret that I was stating that YOU are not a reputable or reliable source. As I stated, I had only read the initial posters question and my response was in the queue after yours by default. I had not even read your post when I sent mine in.

Oh. OK. It was just weird because your message which said, "The information on my listing as "lamazeteacher" states that I have worked as a Public Health Nurse and in Infection Control. Before you diss someone, please see what their background is, and if you're still in doubt about the veracity of their post, contact them." was listed as a private conversation from you - to me on my Allnurses homepage. So I assumed that you were intending this statement directly to me....but I really could not place the context.

The only thing I could find was a discussion where someone asked about what type of precautions should be used for swine flu. I had replied directly to that initial message, but of course Allnurses lists these in chronological order and my post is right after one of yours on the topic - but it seemed we were in agreement on what kind of precautions.

Hi Lamazeteacher, I just saw your message to me and see that you posted before and after I did on the topic of swine flu. Not sure what you mean by "Before you diss someone, please see what their background is, and if you're still in doubt about the veracity of their post, contact them." Please explain.

    Dear Lois:

If you're having difficulty posting in the article section, please contact sirI or another member of the administrative team. You can also post about your difficulties in the Administrative Help Desk and someone should help you shortly.

My article is "open" and anyone should be able to post a response.

I welcome your responses to this article (which was written as a requirement in one of my PhD courses, BTW, hence all the required "verbiage." LOL)

    Take care,
    VickyRN

Hi, Lois.........The minimum length of nursing articles is 500 words; if your piece was too short it gets 'kicked back' for revision. Otherwise, I'm not sure why you couldn't post it. You may want to ask Siri, as she was probably the one who asked for the article.

    Hope this helps!
