Hi all, I recently had a patient diagnosed as having a Pituitary Adenoma. Now I ‘fess up here I know very little about this condition except that most of these are benign. Well that’s what adenoma means isn’t it Anyway this patient was totally flat when told. .Not being funny but she had had several symptoms (on visit she expressed that she had wondered if she was going mad) because she had been investigated for these symptoms for a while and told they were all in her head. Now as I said I don’t know a lot about this, which is why I’m here, but I think if someone told me that I had something in my brain even if it is benign I’d be a bit freaked out or in her case If I thought I was losing the plot and told that no, there is a physical reason I’d initially be up . . And then running to the net to learn more but initially up!!!! Anyway as I said this not an area I have expertise in. Do patients with Pituitary Adenoma’s normally have such a flat affect?Or was she just stunned?Any advice?
