ingats and goodluck - Mar 18, 2009 08:15 AM - permalinkfrustratednurseIn NORQUEST there is what they call distance learning, as far as I understand, you can take it online (modules and exams). The cons for this program is once you arrived in CANADA you still need to finish a clinical or practical class. Tuition for online learning is more expensive. (You still need to pay separately in their practical class).
ONCE done, you could take the exam. There is a misconception that if you passed NCLEX-PN or RN, you need not to take the CLPNA exam. I clarrified it with CLPNA and they said it was true, but in order to qualify you must provide a work experience in US for them to consider you an out of the province applicant.
You could search the schools' website mentioned in google if you want to contact them.
Good LUCK - Mar 18, 2009 08:14 AM - permalinkfrustratednurseI have with me the application form for BOW VALLEY COLLEGE, (just provide me your e-mail and I'll forward it to you)
Inside it are the details for admission, terms of payment and cancellation of tuition fee.
The problem with the said program is there is no assurance of getting a student visa in my country (Philippines). Hence, you cannot get all the fees that you paid if the application of visa is denied (student or tourist).
I searched the whole course of practical nursing in bow valley college (located at their website). Average per semestral is $3.9k CAD for international students. - Mar 18, 2009 08:10 AM - permalinkfrustratednurseHi,
Regarding the LPN program the process that I know is in Alberta, I'm not sure with the other provinces. The first step is contact the accredited school that you like, it's either NORQUEST or BOWVALLEY COLLEGE.
http://www.clpna.com/Applicants/Inte...5/Default.aspx
On the CLPNA website it states that the college will be the one assessing you for the subjects that they think that you need to take (PLAR)
You need to submit at the school institution your transcripts, both college and highschool for assessment of credentials.
In Bow Valley College, the bridging program for international educated nurse is Practical Nurse Equivalency Program.
I contacted the school last week and asked for the amount of tuition in the said program. However, they cannot give an amount because it all depends on the subject that you/we need to take.
(Text was too long, I'll just separate in 1000 characters)
