  1. Have you had a bad reaction to the H1N1 vaccine? If so what happened?

My youngest daughter caught the actual virus from the live flu mist. She had to take tamiflu and 2 antibiotics. This is very rare and not so much of an issue with the injection.
  2. Reasons for Flu Vaccine Reluctancy

I think a large factor is how "new" the vaccine is perceived. Safety and efficacy are major concerns. Larger scale clinical trial results are not as prevalent as other vaccines. Long term and short term side effects are of concern. My daughter too...
  3. H1N1

Be careful of the live mist vaccination. If your children tend to get sick easily talk with your doctor before taking the mist....as for the injection, I think it is a better alternative for some children....but always consult with your doctor. You...
  4. H1N1 flumist disaster!

Hello everyone, I posted on this topic before but just want our experience to be shared. My 2 daughters were both vaccinated using the live flumist. The next day the youngest developed a high fever and sore throat. This continued over the next few...
  5. Our experience with H1N1 flumist

Anything is possible....however we haven't been around anyone else for the past few weeks. None of us were sick. The doctor believes as I do that this was from the live H1N1 flumist. Thank you for your kind words and prayers :)
  6. Vaccinated and Sick--But I'd do it again

Sonia, My two daughters took the live H1N1 flumist as well. No problems from the older one. The day after the vaccine my youngest developed fever, sore throat, cough, and wheezing in her lungs. On thursday our pediatrician started her on tamiflu. ...
  7. Our experience with H1N1 flumist

Thank You....prayers are definitely needed and highly appreciated. I am overwrought with guilt for deciding to give this to her.
  8. Our experience with H1N1 flumist

Hello everyone, Considering the flu is in full swing, I decided it would be best to have my daughters 17 and 8 vaccinated. Both my kids were healthy and well. My youngest actually is home schooled and had not been in contact with anyone sick. On M...
  9. tired of the abuse

I think as a profession we lack being our own advocates. If we all demanded better treatment then they would be forced to give us that treatment....unfortunately the majority of us just take it and simmer quietly. I am just tired of it...and plain ...
  10. tired of the abuse

Well they make us sign a document prior to every shift signing away our right to our second 30 minute meal break (in cali as you said we are entitled to 30 min every 5 hours). So on top of making us sign that stupid board we never get our 10 minute...
  11. tired of the abuse

    LOL thank you :)
  12. tired of the abuse

Hello fellow nurses, Is anyone else feeling exhausted by the daily abuse we subject our body, mind, and spirit to for employers that could care less about us???? I have worked at the same place for 4 years now and subjected myself to infrequent bath...
  13. Warning - excelsior students

The CPNE is fairly easy nursing but the pressure to perform with perfection is nerve wracking....Yes, most private institutions are in it for the money. EC is a good program for the right student, given they are unable to go another route.
  14. CPNE,....Anyone have any neg. experiences

The CPNE is not hard.....People make it hard by not preparing or letting their nerves take control. Just study your critical elements and prepare for about 3 months prior to taking the test. I think reading a bunch of negative information stresses ...
  15. Warning - excelsior students

I can tell you that the area nursing schools require the care of 3 patients by the end of their practicum. We see nurses from 3 community colleges and 2 universities and they all require this. We as preceptors are only to be available as a resource...
