   The lump sum goes to you! So definitely double and triple check your banking info ? They have 90 days to pay out once your contract starts and most years it shows up pretty close to that 90 day deadline - mine came in December.

   NHSC is NOT taxed and it comes in one lump sum. When I did the math on the tax and the interest accrued over those monthly payments, NHSC's payout was about the same as what I'd actually get (minus tax and interest) from Nurse Corps.

   Consolidated loans are only eligible if ALL debt was for nursing education. Any non-nursing debt bundled into it make all the consolidated debt ineligible for NCLRP, and I think the same is true for NHSC.

    Isn’t that the big difference between NHSC and nurse corps? NHSC generally goes by site score whereas nurse corps takes DTI into greater account, right? If you applied for NHSC I’d imagine our chances are the same - HPSA 19, NP, DTI ~115%.
