  1. So fed up with my coworker

You are seriously making me laugh. I'm 40, I have no kids and I would never ever dare to say that mom of 4 under 5 has plenty of time off because she is working only a few days a month. Seriously girl, grow up. If my coworker that has a newborn agre...
  2. Switching to different shifts on same Unit?

I will be switching from nights do days in 2 months. As of right now, I am looking forward to it. I know I will miss my night shift peeps a lot but my health is declining fast since I started working nights last November. Managers in my hospital d...
  3. Now THAT'S a lab result

ABGs pH 7.071 ... Couple days later patient went back to SNF... she was all well 🙊
  4. Call offs

3 times in 6 months. Calling in couple days in the row counts as one call in. If I would be sick more than 4 days and had MD note they will start using my EIB on 5th day of my absence.
  5. I Love Night Shift

I LOVE everything about night shift! Unfortunately my body doesn't 😥 Since I started working NOC I have been having major health issues. I applied for day shift today and I hope I will get it...
  6. Med surg or Post-partum for new grad

I would take baby/postpartum. You don't have to work med-surg to be a good NP.
  7. I am not sure if anyone said that but as a novice RN I can give you one advice.... SLOW DOWN! TRIPLE CHECK YOURSELF! :) When you are rushing you are more prone to make mistakes. Good luck!
  8. When patient is deteriorating are you calling for MD order? I never do that...When I am concern about patient status it is part of my assessment. I've done that on many occasions and never had any problems because of that.
  9. CCRN Practice Tests

Here are exam materials by David W. Woodruff http://www.lifebridgehealth.org/CertificateEducationProgram/NursingCertificationExamMaterials.aspx
  10. NCLEX-RN: Anyone think it wasn't such a huge deal?

I would say it depends from program you were/are in and how well you are testing. My program has passing rate 100% and I am good test taker. Personally, I didn't find NCLEX questions that difficult. I think what some people may find difficult is h...
  11. I want to quit 4 months in

You can do it! As I mentioned in my previous post, most of my friends that started on nights (new grads) are on day/evening shift now.... And they didn't have to wait whole year :) I really can't imagine working 5 nights a week! I worked 0.8FTE even...
  12. I want to quit 4 months in

You can ask her when you will be eligible for different shift on your unit? If you are doing 8hr shifts evenings are good too. You can also go part time. If I would be you, I would stick with this job until you find something else. Remember, it is te...
  13. I want to quit 4 months in

Did you try to transfer on day shift? On my unit there are new grads that switch for days after six months working nights. Also, you can consider going per diem. That will allow you work your own schedule.
  14. Does anybody else feel guilty about calling off?

I don't feel guilty at all. I am sick and I am staying at home. End of story. I don't feel guilty when they are calling me to come on my day off and I say "no". I love being nurse and I like my job BUT my priority is my health and my family.
