  1. Have to agree with above posts... if you're not interested in that position, say so but with a kindness to your tone... say that you don't feel it would be a good long term fit (most hiring managers don't want someone that's just going to leave in a ...

  3. The Unwritten Laws Nurse Managers Live By

Esme is right unfortunately... and when the numbers don't look good, the admins need someone to blame... and when the admins crunch down on staffing... the nurses need someone to blame... Those statements by OP are obviously exaggerated, but sadly b...
  4. Question for Nursing Managers in Texas

Management in nursing is NOTHING like management elsewhere... vague business familiarity is useful, but it is not the same environment... I would say be prepared to be expected to keep everyone (above and below you) happy... not really a realistic go...
  5. Management Type

First problem... yes, you are used to a former person's way of doing it... from your comments I take it that person is gone. Truly you need to get over this part... it is not fair to yourself, nor your manager to keep comparing the new manager to the...
  6. How to climb up the ladder

You do not need to tell the director WHAT your condition is... But I would likely let her know that changing schedules isn't something you're able to do for personal/medical reasons. I would also ask that supervisor if s/he's willing to work with you...
  10. As an experienced charge nurse, leader, DON, and now Chief officer of a nursing unit... I would SERIOUSLY recommend the note above by Georgia Peach RN.... You have a choice here... move forward in your "righteous indignation" with the disciplinary p...
  11. Rehabilitation Nurse Practitioner?

TheCommuter is right!! Please note... CMS requires (as of 2010 regs) that the PM&R trained physician round on the patient 3xweekly minimum. IF the physicians there want to use an NP, that's all fine and dandy... I would expect that varies from on...
  12. Do not rehire

Thing is... they not only have the right to refuse you rehire as long as they are in business... they also have the right to tell others that you are not eligible for rehire... don't burn bridges, it's important - if you think they don't share commen...
