  1. Stress and Burnout

:sofahider Sounds nice Chris, I think I'll give it a try sometime. Might be easier than swimming for two or so hours after work each day.
  2. Are patients confused about what to call NP's?

I see no problem with letting my patients call me by my first name if they want. But I do agree with Dr Edwina, when refering to other NPs one should be adressed by title and/or last name rather than the first name. I let my patients refer to me by f...
  3. Are patients confused about what to call NP's?

:chair: I'm just a very shy sort of guy I guess.
  4. Stress and Burnout

what i do to relax: i burn lavender oil and white sage, and have made a committment to myself to include some type of beauty in my life on a weekly basis, last week i went to a film festival, this week i repotted some little plants that i found for $...
  5. Are patients confused about what to call NP's?

Not much we can do about them not knowing precisely what we are. Just have that on your badge, intro yourself by what you want to be called (ie Elvis, or Mr Presley) and let them know what you are.
  6. Where do you study?

I know it's strange, but I prefer to study at the bowling alley. The noise of crashing pins in the background is so relaxing and helps me study.
  7. Are patients confused about what to call NP's?

Hahaha, That sounds like an awfully careful answer there Siri. To me any title isn't needed, and only get in the way. Have what you are on a badge or something, but still intro yourself as what you want the patients to call you.
  8. Got in... now how to tell my work?

In total agreement on this with you. Don't let anyone push you around. If you want to further your education to help you in nursing then just do it. :chair:
  9. Are patients confused about what to call NP's?

So what. It doesn't really matter if they don't remember your title. Just remember, you entered nursing to help people (most likely), not for some silly title in front of your name.
  10. Stress and Burnout

Nursing is very much a stressful job. I find that going for a long swim is a good way to relax when the stress starts to get too much. Not on any meds for BP though, far too stubborn. But I imagine after work most nurses are too exhausted to go for a...
  11. Are patients confused about what to call NP's?

Far too formal for my touch. Just call me by my first name. No need for titles, they're too impersonal for a profession like nursing. :chair:
  12. Groped on the job...

:chair: It sucks bug time, but being the new guy and him being well liked there isn't much you can do without evidence I suppose. But if he has done it to you he may do it to others, or already has. But without a witness.....
  13. A Clueless New Guy

:chuckle Hahaha. If you end up in the right place with the right people. It can ALMOST be counted as relaxing.
  14. SIT Students

Hmmm...My guess would be Tim Shadbolt (the mayor) realised Invercargill was becoming a retirement home and was losing cash fast. He set to to getting SIT on the Zero fee scheme which resulted in the low costs. Doing so brought young students from all...
  15. A Clueless New Guy

:chair: My advise is just enter a nursing home anyway and gain some experience from that. It isn't likely you'll get into the higher experience jobs this early in your nursing career. So you can gain experience in the small time work, which still alw...
