  1. Sepsis as Hospice Diagnosis

My med director would say ... What caused the sepsis... And that would be her admitting diagnosis with sepsis as one of the 2nd diagnoses.. She always always looks at the big picture and then goes down the trail from there...
  2. In-home NP Medicare Assessments

I do this as an independent contractor through Matrix Medical one day per week.. Pay is better than anyone here quoted. Its per visit, 5-6 visits per day..
  3. Sepsis as Hospice Diagnosis

You can google Palmetto Hospice LCDs and it will pull up all the current active LCDs that are allowed to be used.. I'm a hospice NP that does F2F visits so I deal with this every day.
  4. Got a Per Diem Hospice position

Do a search on "palmetto Medicare LCDs" if you are going to be doing face to face visits and you can print the active LCDs. This helped me quite a bit when I started doing face to face visit because they list the requirements for each diagnosis. This...
  5. Need help from a palliative care NP

I was hired straight out of NP school to work in the hospice field but I had hospice background as an RN, but we just hired an NP that has no hospice experience because we thought she would be a good fit for us, so it takes finding the right place wi...
  6. Raise your hand if you worked and went to NP school full time?

I worked 52 hours a week all the way through my NP program.
  7. Reactions to being a NP

Around here at one of the local hospitals a new grad RN is going to get between 19-20 an hour. There are three hospital systems and they are all consistent with each other. All the home health agencies are consistent with each other.. That's one thin...

    I live in Chattanooga, TN..
  9. Reactions to being a NP

We are oversaturated... You can google it. I can tell you exactly what every hospital in this area pays. There are 9 nursing schools and 3 NP programs in a 50 mile radius. With 10 years of RN experience prior to graduation I was making $23 an hour.....
  10. Reactions to being a NP

Not in my area either.. The average RN right out of school makes 35,000-40,000 a year here base pay with benefits and no OT. An FNP makes between 70,000-85,000 depending on what type of practice you land in. Acute care... it is closer to 90,000...
  11. Stay away from Walden University

I don't know anything specifically about Walden but I finished my associates degree through Excelsior College and obtained my RN through them. I am now a nurse practitioner but back when I finished my associates degree I lived in an area with 9 progr...
  12. FNP pondering...

I'm a new FNP and I'm pondering over the doctorate after I have time to get my feet wet. I'm trying to decide what schools to look at.. Quality is important as well as cost.. Any thoughts?
  13. Why do NPs call associate MD their "Boss"

Our medical director is my direct supervisor. She approves my payroll, is the person I talk things through with, she approves my time off... She is my "boss". The other MDs are not. I don't have a problem with this. She is someone that I have tons o...
  14. House calls

I do house calls although not for home health or for an insurance company. I work for a large not for profit hospice and do the face-to-face visits. I am a full time employee and I work four 10 hour shifts and I love it. The pay for NPs in our area i...
  15. Working during school?

I managed to work my 52 hour work week and do all my class and clinical work and maintain a 4.0 gpa. As the only income in my household I didn't have a choice. I made it work even though it was not easy at all. I found a preceptor that worked 10 hour...
