Hi everyone. Has anyone here just got hired at VA San Diego? Can someone tell me the hiring process and how easy/hard to get in? Thanks in advance.
it's been 4 weeks now since i sent my application and they just cashed my application fee. Hoping to recieve a letter from them this week.
I also graduated year 2009 from the Phil and have the same prob with regards to concurrency issues. After a year of waiting for my RN application here in CA, i got a mail that says i wasn't able to sit for NCLEX-RN. What i did to keep me going was applied for LVN and passed the exam.
Right now, i work in a Skilled Nursng Facility with good pay . Few months after passing LVN, i decided to take RN exam for the state of Florida and got my license few months ago. I waited for few months before i decided to apply for reciprocity because of what i have read in this forum. Now my papers are still in process. Whether it is approved or not, i'm still hoping and praying that they will grant it.
I'll keep you guys posted.
Any update on your endorsement to CA?
I just took my exam a week ago and unfortunately i didn't make it. It was my 1st Nclex RN exam and i was so frustrated and disappointed. I thought all the studies i made were enough but i was wrong.
Now, I'm trying to motivate my self to study again. It is hard specially when you work full time.
I got plenty of SATA questions. Almost 60-70% Prioritization (That's why I bought LaCharity book), 30-40% Safety and Infection Control and lots of Drug Computation.
I heard about the NCSBN and Kaplan online review and until now i'm still confused which one will i enroll. I heard different reviews to both of them that makes me confused. I might enroll at NCSBN and go to Barne's to read KAplan's review book. What do you think, guys?
Can somebody here share a sample of Drug Computation you got and what formula did you use?
Here are the reason why CA BON is very strict now to all Filipino grads.

Hi dragon lady,
How long did you wait to be eligible after you send your Declaration form?
Mine took 5-6 months to get my eligibility.
hey! just saw this site. I applied in Ca last 2011, waited for 9 months for my ATT and was DENIED.
While I was in Cali, I met another filipino who graduated from Philippines, got his ATT and passed NCLEX with flying colors.
As for me, I was so frustrated when I was declined to take the exam. California has always been my dream state. It's just my own mentality that it feels like I'm not so far away from the Philippines.
anyway, I re-applied in FL and got my license. Now I am in VA (applied for reciprocity with no problems). I'm now working as a medsurg RN. Is there any chance I can apply again in cali and work there? Or will they ask me to study again?
I guess so but I saw a two of my or cases on a different sem but I saw that sem was a summer class and was still part of med surg. I read Mary Ann Hogan from cover to cover it was so helpful and pda. I also have some review materials im trying to sell pm me for the details
Hi! Just wondering how long it takes for the CGFNS to process the report and so you mean Florida is not the same as CA with concurrency issue? I am planning to try Florida and hope i will get a good news too! Last question what are the requirements so i can be exempted for taking English proficiency exam? Looking forward for your reply and thanks in advance!!
How long did it take for cgfns to reply? Done with my ces report for IL hmmm.. Dunno if cgfns needs my hs diploma lol. They received my OTR from my school but it still says on CGFNS' site that theyre still waiting for my requirements tsk lol
Guess what! The CGFNS just emailed and congratulate me for completing the requirements of my Credentials and they now issued the report to the Florida BON. Good thing is that i don't need to take the English Proficiency exam.
The only thing that i need to complete is to fly to Florida for the Live scan/fingerprints to get my eligibility.
Any suggestions on how can i get a fingerprints without flying there from San Diego?
They need it because it's one of the requirements. The one from the RN board are different from the LVN.
Ya I guess but everyone is different.. But most of the time is 2-3 months.. I am also hoping i will get it soon
