  2. CNM to DNP and Frontier vs Yale

After response back for Yale admissions the DNP is distance but requires trips to New Haven monthly... Frontier is 33 credits for the post masters, though as of class 114 the DNP and MSN will be rolled together and only be 17 additional credits afte...
  3. CNM to DNP and Frontier vs Yale

I am currently in school at Frontier to become a CNM-CNEP106. I love Frontier, I think it is the perfect choice for me now but have met a couple of CNM's where I work who went straight through to do their DNP at other schools (CU for one and Columbi...
  4. IBCLC info for OB RN/SNM

Another pearl of wisdom I might add is that even if you are a new grad in post partum, if you intend to go to Nurse-Midwifery and take the IBCLC, register for IBCLC ceu classes the fiscal year BEFORE attending grad school. Because (!) once you begin ...
  5. How long did you wait to take advanced fetal monitoring?

[COLOR=#003366]sds1arm2, I work with several nurses who enjoy the Lisa Miller fetal monitoring class. Here is a link with the 2013 locations: https://proedcenter.com/uploads/AFM_2013_final_4_pages.pdf I would recommend the AWHONN but I will say it d...

  7. I am looking at working for IHS at some point as well, hopefully as a CNM when I graduate in a few years. I love working as an RN at an urban teaching hospital but I love the idea of serving this community. There isn't a whole lot on Allnurses abou...
  8. How long did you wait to take advanced fetal monitoring?

Thanks Nora, I think if it were offered more often I definitely would have waited the full year. I definitely passed and found it made more sense than the intermediate class. We'll see how much it actually helps in the upcoming weeks :)
  9. "Not allowed" to perform vaginal exams

I think if a provider asks you to check, you should go ahead and take the opportunity. I work at a teaching hospital as well and often when there are new residents, they ask the nurses to check behind them to make sure and if you stay at this hospita...
  10. Hi! I work L&D and took AWHONN's intermediate fetal monitoring shortly before I began and then, seven months later (and with the permission of my nurse educator and charge nurse/ instructor of the course) I am taking advanced fetal monitoring. W...
  11. becoming rusty with vaginal exams

Are you able to check your patients or do the doc's prefer to? I work at a teaching hospital where the nurse-midwives prefer to check their own pt unless they are busy and the residents check all OB so they can learn, so I guess you could say I am in...
  12. IBCLC info for OB RN/SNM

Sooo incase anyone's interested (lol) I found this in the depths of the IBCLC website. The underlined text was particularly helpful. Again any additional info or comments are welcome. Education in Human Lactation and Breastfeeding I nee...
  13. IBCLC info for OB RN/SNM

Hello, I have been an OB RN for 2.5 years, now I have started midwifery school (part time) and think the IBCLC would be a nice addition to my nursing practice and as an APN in a few years. I have been looking at Pathway 1, since I work with lactation...
