  1. Excessive documentation

Hi, Getting kinda sick of ppv casemanagement d/t excessive charting/follow up. It seems the pts are complex with numerous phone calls/documentation. Which, to me questioning if this is worth it. A pt fell yest, had to call office, md, pt then documen...
  2. I agree, I dont care if they never give me another pt again, i wont risk my life so they can make there money. I look at it this way, Im per diem, I get no benefits, haven't had a raise in 3 years. This is the only thing I ask of them in return for q...
  3. Home health

Hi, When you refuse a pt just make sure you report off to a supervisor or another nurse so you aren't accused of abandonment. My comfort level is 12-14 pts. Sounds like there dumping wayyyy to much responsibility on you. You have to learn to stick u...
  4. If you & your husband have concerns regarding your safety in certain areas I wouldnt think twice about refusing the assignment especially if there was no escort. I have refused assignments before, but they do get upset and you may not get as many...
  5. When patients aren't home

This is the bad part of hh. Try to claim an attempted visit to at least get gas money in the future. If pts screw with my time like that I usually try to discharge or give away the assignment.
  6. Embarrassing/Clumsy Moments!

I once had a nun in home health whom shall I say, got her moneys worth out of me doing extras. I would take out her garbage, get her mail etc.. but one day she asked me to water her plants. One was hanging from a ceiling over her makeshift Alter. The...
  7. No, I'm Not a Beauty Shop!

You should try home health. Today I took out a pts dog for her and another I screwed in a new light bulb. I don't mind, especially if they may hurt themselves doing these things!!
  8. Question regarding possible patient abandonment?

I would chart refused wound care. This would also mean non-compliance and be cause for discharge.
  9. Finding your patients...

Most of my pts want to be seen between 11am-2pm. Lots of unpaid wasted time scheduling.
  10. What did I get myself into??!! I'm scared!!!

I agree with everything she said. The paperwork is overwhelming and cuts deeply into your home life. I've been charting nightly till 7-8pm and I'm part time. HH is a whole different animal, usually you love it or hate it.
  11. Finding your patients...

Very frustrating! Whats worse is when you go to the home as scheduled, and there not there! Wish I could be of some help, but its one of the negatives of working HH. Sue
  12. Was I wrong to talk back to my supervisor?

  13. State of emergency?!

Also, if freq is 2xw, you could make it thurs, sat this week and still be in compliance?
  14. Was I wrong to talk back to my supervisor?

I think you should expect support from your office regarding correct info and paperwork. I also have to call 2-3x for such things as lab results, supplies and no one seems to get it right. I am polite, but get your act together. Staff is getting paid...
  15. State of emergency?!

Im in the midwest, and when theres a snowstorm, I call my pt to check on them, and if there ok I will visit them the next day. Most of them are worried sick about you if you go out in the storm anyway. Document you contacted them or family and write ...
