  1. What the heck have I gotten myself into??

I too am feeling completely inadequate. I was a stay at home mom, then part time preschool teacher when I decided to go back to school at the age of 36. I began with the LPN program at my community college and returned for the LPN-RN transition pro...
  2. Trouble in clinical. Prioritizing. Help

Sadly I think there are many programs that are pushing graduates thru their school without care or concern if they are properly training each one. I attended my local (very small town) technical college for the LPN program and then LPN to RN transit...
  3. Am I doing the right thing? New nurse getting butt kicked

I became an LPN in January 2012, I was having all those same symptoms, tbh, I still have anxiety and gastric upset before my 12 hr shift at the LTC facility. I am currently in the ADN transition program with graduation May 2013 and my anxiety level ...
  4. Thank you all for your replies. I have learned many things from those who replied to my original post as well as the in person interviews I did here in my home area.
  5. LPN bridge to RN

Pray about it and do what your gut tells you. I was blessed to be a stay at home mom while my children were young. I went back to school May 2009 part time taking nursing pre-reqs while working part time; my kids were 14 and 10. I was accepted int...

    Good Luck!
  7. Any older students??

I will be 39 when I graduate with my ADN in May, just 1 month before my 17y/o daughter graduates high school. I have intentions to continue with BSN. I think its all about your mindset, don't let failure be an option, and don't forget to give yourse...
  8. Thank you, I do realize now that I should have included more detail, but I am new at this forum thing and I've been told I talk too much with too many unneccesary details. :) Yes, those are good points that I agree with (reasons behind certain assig...
  9. Decreasing Medication Passes to BID from TID

Both small local jails I have worked try to maintain BID at all times. One facility has a nurse on duty 8am-2pm, but on call 24/7. The other larger facility has 6am-6pm nurse with BID med pass.
  10. Wow! Well thank you! In the opening paragraph for this link the admins actually encourage use of this forum for care plans, interviews, etc. In today's time, utilizing the internet access as a resource(which it is as one of my instructors clearly s...
  11. I am 4'11, 93 lbs, 38 y/o that looks just like my 17 y/o daughter except when my hair dye has faded and my gray is shining! lol I finished LPN school 2011 and began working in LTC in Jan 2012 then as a corrections nurse in May. I absolutely love wor...
  12. In the small town I live in, LTC facilities employ mostly LPNs and unfortunately the local hospital employs newly licensed RNs and the few older RNs have already been interviewed by a classmate. But thanks! :)
  13. Hi, I am a 2011 LPN graduate and currently an LPN-RN transition student in my last semester. I have to write a paper after "interviewing" a RN from the 60-70s and one from 80-90s. I was hoping someone could help me by answering a few questions. An...
