First off congrats on the job I screamed when I got mine! ! I float and do ltc and also sub acute I love the sub acute side because I'm learning! But I have 22 patients and I wanna cry!! 5 g-tubes, 8 wounds, 10 diabetics that are on finger sticks before every meal, everybody on blood pressure meds and poly pharmacy! I'm a new grad (sept 2013) started oct2013 and I'm still somewhat overwhelmed! Some days more then others. . Make sure to make nice with your CNAs, they have your back like nobody else will. I've been told over and over "if you can do this, you can do anything". And I feel like superwoman! !
I currently work in skilled nursing sub acute care where I have 22:1 ratio and it kicks my tail! ! I've been a nurse there for 6 months. . I've been a nurse for 6 months! It's rough, but this is normal. I'm in Maryland . I needed a start and I got one! Keep your head get all you can until you can get somewhere else
Try preferred homecare !
Silver springs ,M.D. outside D.C. ltc and rehab $22 New grad!!
I went back and re took ati, and also did questions from exam cram and Kaplan.. don't buy it, just sit in Barnes and noble and read it!! (That's what we did)

Hi all I'm moving back to md given when I get a job.. my question is, . Where are the best places to apply as a new grad!!?? I have experience from surgery to mental health, rehab, homecare and long term care as a nurse assistant and pct.. just wondering if anybody can give any pointers, tips, words of wisdom.. the struggle is real right now!!
Thank you all so much for your replies!!! I'm slated to take my nclex the end of the month.. I've had a few companies say let us know when you're licensed so I'll just keep on!!!
I need some help!!!! i am currently in the process of sitting for boards and i was wondering if anybody started to apply for jobs as an LPN before taking their boards?? Ive heard/seen a few people have mixed responses about it. With the current saturated market, i thought it would be good to get a head start, ill be licensed by the end of the month, for that im sure (failureis not an option, i will pass !) Just wanting some feed back from those who are in the same situation now, or have recently been int he same situation !!! Peace and Love
