  1. hourly wage

I'm in east TN and work home health for our local hospital. I get $15 an hour plus .51 cent a mile. That's on the high end for CNAs here. LTCs typically pay anywhere from $8.50 to $11 in my area.
  2. Job Opportunities

You are allowed to hold active certifications in multiple states, however I believe VA does not share reciprocity with NC. I think in order to be certified in Virginia, you would have to take their state approved training and test. You can double che...

I'm 43 and I've been a CNA for 6 months. I go home physically exhausted most nights but then my 20 year old co-workers do too :)

  5. What kind of extra credentials will help me find employment as a CNA?

I was out of the workforce for 21 years when circumstances dictated that I find a job. I've been a CNA for about 7 months and I was hired straight out of school. I interviewed for two jobs, one at a LTC and one for the hospital. I was offered a job a...
  6. I need a job

I work in home health and do not do any homemaking services. I take vitals and assist with bathing. I think when you apply for jobs, it's important to look for CNA and not Caregiver positions. At least in my area, Caregiver indicates that you will al...

I am certified in the state of TN and was issued a license number.
  8. CNA true Salary?

I'm in northeast TN and work home health for our local med center. It's my first CNA job, fresh out of school. I'm paid $15.05 per visit plus $0.51 for mileage. I average about 6 visits a day, each visit is about 1/2 hour.
  9. Looking for a good stethoscope

I am a CNA, working home health/hospice for my local med center. They did provide me with a stethoscope but I couldn't hear a thing through it. I ended up buying an MDF for about $25. For taking vitals, it's fabulous! Plus the company provides replac...
  10. Cna course completed

Congratulations! I felt the same way when my clinicals ended!
  11. Clinical Experiences?

I loved my clinicals as well. We were in a fairly large LTC and assigned to a different CNA everyday. I was determined to learn as much as possible so volunteered to do anything and everything I could. My first 5 mins there and I was in the shower ro...
  12. Group Home CNA

I actually did my clinicals at a Life Care Center, here in TN. I love it and would have worked there but the drive from my house was a little too far. It may depend on the individual facility.
  13. Anyone have a pre-employment Physical?

Well now, that makes sense. Thanks for responding
  14. What do you have to do to become a CNA?

My class was 4 weeks. First two in class 7am-2:30pm, last two clinicals 6:30am-2pm. We started with 15 in the class, finished with 8.
  15. Anyone have a pre-employment Physical?

You're right as far as glucose and cholesterol, just couldn't for the life of me figure out why they would need those for employment. I'm a CNA too, btw :)
