  1. What am I qualified to do? OTHER THAN FLOOR NURSING!!

Home Health might be good for you - there's lots of flexibility on how you can structure your day. And home health is all about teaching patients and family members. Your year of floor nursing experience will be valuable as most home health companies...
  2. Transcript Evaluation

I have to complete 40 CUs. 9 of those CUs should be super easy for me to clear as I took those classes in the past but WGU didn't accept them for transfer. Hoping to be done in 2 terms :)
  3. Transcript Evaluation

Ok my last transcript was received by WGU on Friday 10/31. My evaluation was completed and emailed to me this morning 11/4.
  4. Thinking seriously about RN to BSN

I need 40 and was told 3.5 terms if I do the minimum hours per term. My enrollment counselor thinks I can realistically complete 40 CUs in 2 terms because I have done 18-19 hours in a semester at previous schools.
  5. Starting January 1st

Well my enrollment counselor called me today and January 1st is full Then an hour later, my transcript evaluation results were emailed to me. I have 40 CUs to complete, 9 of which I have taken previously so I should be able to clear those fairly qui...
  6. Transcript Evaluation

Oh wow. My enrollment counselor said 2-3 WEEKS. I am hoping it's closer to 2-3 days. I am anxious to see which classes I will receive credit for.
  7. Starting January 1st

I am anticipating a January 1st start date too. I am waiting for my transcript eval to be completed so I have no clue how many CUs I will have to complete. I have over 130 college credits so I am hopeful that I will get away with just having to take ...
  8. Financial Aid and WGU

You could easily find out by filling out the FAFSA. After you fill it out, there is an estimate of Pell grant eligibility, loan eligibility, etc.
  9. Do you have both nursing home and home health experience?

I prefer home health. I felt like a pill vending machine in LTC. In home health I actually get to help most of my patients get better. I have time to spend with them to actually do teaching. I make care plans that I can actually implement.
  10. Pediatric PDN skills are not "marketable"?

This is just my opinion, but any job skills are marketable. Most hiring managers these days are more concerned with the degree you hold, your personality, and your people skills. With PDN experience you can market yourself as "independent" "flexible"...
  11. Buying VS. making drug cards; need advice

As a recent student, I had to write out my own drug cards during my first two semesters. Sometimes I had to write out 30+ drug cards in one day, depending on the patient I was assigned. I was frantically scribbling just to get credit for finishing th...
  12. Are they still giving out incentives for nurses?

I was offered two jobs in different states that both offered sign-on bonuses.
  13. Pressure ulcers urgh

If things are really that bad, you need to bring it up to the DON or administrator. I am sure it would pique their interest as pressure ulcers cost the facility money. Sounds as if some CNAs aren't doing their jobs. It is also the nurses' responsibil...
  14. Immobile med carts

Whoa, if you didn't say PA I would have asked if we worked at the same facility. Immobile med carts, as previous posters have stated, are not only inconvenient for the nurse, but also unsafe. I brought this point up to fellow nurses with seniority as...
  15. Defensive/CYA charting

Never chart "patient found...", that implies they were lost. Also don't chart that somebody fell unless you witnessed it. Never chart that an incident report was completed. Never chart opinions, just facts. Chart what you see and do. If you have to r...
