  2. Pregnant and working full time

My job hired a gvn that was about 6 months pregnant as a PRN. Fortunately prns at my job usually get full time hrs. It may be beneficial to you to take a prn job. :)
  3. Help with documenting.

You're welcome. Glad it helps you out. I've been a nurse for 2 years now and I still have a hard time wording what I need to say. Practice makes perfect. :)

I am currently 9 months pregnant. I work full time on a busy med surg floor. I am scheduled to be induced Sept 24th. My boss has taken my off the schedule a week before my induction. At the beginning of my pregnancy, I wanted to work up until I deliv...
  6. 5 twelve hour shifts in a row?? Is it safe??

When I told the charge nurse it would make 5 twelves in a row then she told me to stay home. I felt bad because I know how swamped they are w/ pts. Any charge nurse or RN can change the hard copy by marking out someone's name and adding someone elses...
  7. 5 twelve hour shifts in a row?? Is it safe??

Seriously folks, I was put down to work today. I worked a 12 yesterday and will work a 12 saturday, sunday, and monday. If I had worked a 12 today that would make 5 12's in a row. Not to mention overtime. On my schedule I was off but on our hardcopy ...
  8. New nurse still on orientation and first med error?

In my facility we are allowed to give warm packs w/o an order. We are also allowed to put in foley's if the pt. needs one as well as take one out. The doctor states that f/c's are a nurse thing...we put them in then he writes the order.
  9. SO I get a new patient direct admit from home, dx: colon mass, anemia. I don't have any orders yet but my charge nurse tells me to go a head and get a SL in the pt. So I go and get a 22g the pt. is content. Then the nurse walks in after i'm done dres...
  10. Input please for recent LPN graduate

Just a little input facilities usually hire at the beginning of the month. I would cont. putting in apps everywhere including nursing homes, home health, sub acute, m/s...It took me 3 months and over 50 applications to finally get a job and now I've ...
  11. Having a medication nurse?? Yes or No?

At our facility it is allowed to have a med nurse, when needed, but in this case I think it isn't needed.
  12. Having a medication nurse?? Yes or No?

I am an LVN on a m/s floor. Yesterday we had a low census and our CNA was running late. Only having 7 patients wouldn't justify having 3 nurses so since our aid was late the charge nurse made one of the nurses the med nurse until the aid showed up an...
  13. 2 Med Errors in 6 months

Okay so my first med error was that I gave a scheduled Xanax 0.25mg PO 1.5hrs early. The doctor said that it was fine. I got written up for it. Then second med error I made the other day and I'm beating myself up about it and also super worried about...
