Yeah since a local license is a requirement in some states it's really important. Being an american citizen is a plus but it won't help you out all the way if you can't provide the needed requirements for a state. Some states see a person with a license from where they were trained as a way to see that the nurse applying is competent enough to practice in the country they were trained.

Yeah there are about 20 signed up for the program for this 2013 of May. If the number students will be a little be a bit more than 30 students then it will pull through by this may 2013. But if it won't get up to 30 by April then it will be postponed by May 2014. But I'm pretty sure it will open by this 2013. If you guys are interested please contact the Chair, school of nursing at CSU Fresno. Or you can PM me and I will give you her contact number.

The program will cover OB and Critical care Nursing(MS) and both classes will have didactics and clinical with skills lab. Im really positive it will pull through this summer because the number of applicants is in the 20's. If you are far away, let's say from Socal, you can get a hold of others who are willing to take the program and rent a room with a couple of people. I've spoken to a few who were interested in rooming with their friends.

Thank you so much! Since you've said that the questions are just like the nclex questions, I think I will give the NCSBN a try. Congratulations on passing the exam. Best of luck to you!

    hi everyone,
I finally received my ATT. Planning to use the NCSBN online review. I wanted to know if this program has any audio/video that covers the lectures or is the reviewer all reading based materials? I know some online reviewers have both video and audio and some only have audio lectures. I just wanted to know how the NCSBN online review works.
At the meantime, I've been using Saunders 5th edition for content. I'm excited but nervous at the same time.
Thank you all for any suggestions. =)

Hi all! A friend of mine asked a question about application for Nj but I can't really give him a certain answer for sure. I hope you guys can help him.

[FONT=lucida grande]Greetings fellow nurses! Knowing that it's nearly impossible for international graduates to obtain a nursing license here in California, I've finally decided to move to New Jersey and build my career as a nurse in the said state. I called up the NJ's board of nursing to reassess my preliminary requirements in taking the NCLEX. It quickly came to my attention that they would ask for my local license in which country I had finished the nursing program. Before leaving the Philippines, I decided to take the July 2012 NLE. I had to leave the country days after taking the exam and without waiting for the results to come out. I passed the board exam by grace and did my oath taking in LA and I requested for a Special Power of Attorney for my father who is back in the Phils to obtain my license. My ultimate question is, will PRC release my license even though I'm not physically present to do the initial registration which would require me to appear in front a PRC official and provide a signature? I need my local nursing license as it is a requirement by NJ's board of nursing.I think I would be asked to provide my local license NUMBER and other info upon filling out my CES report information. I badly need your answer so I could get started soon. Thank you for taking time in reading this!

The "concurrency problem" list of the 13 states are growing, and WILL GROW. ALL 50 states will probably eventually have this "concurrency" requirement, and they will ask for this requirement even when you RENEW your license. Even when you are already working at the masters level, like Nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, etc, many employers require that you have the masters certificate AND an RN license in your state. So one way or another, whether it is now or years later, everyone with a concurrency problem will face this licensing problem.
That is true. the number of states has now actually increased to 14-16 since different people have had trouble applying in New Jersey and myself am required to take MS in NV. Since you added some schools that can be very helpful to others, I'd like to share that there is a program being offered in CSU Fresno this summer. They will be offering OB theory, clinicals with skills lab Critical Care(MS) theory, clinical with skills. If any of you have questions don't hesitate to ask. This is for anyone lacking these subjects around the US just make sure that the state you are applying from says the course meets the requirements.

I agree that this problem may not get well soon, and to those who have received their ATT's please pass your NCLEX exam in the first try okay!

I believe so, i really do. There are people that say it's not important but in reality it is. A license in the country a person was trained indicates that the student is competent enough based on his or her passing the Philippines local exam. Unfortunately for me, I don't have a license. The NSBN will require a license starting 2013.

-- Kuyafern, do you think your Nevada application would have been more positive if you were licensed in the PI ?

NV said that i need to enroll in medsurg 2 so that I can sit for the NCLEX. Luckily I found a school that offers it. I'm just hoping the education auditor will give me a go sign and let me take the course.

Kuyafern i heard its not that strict in texas. Thats one of my options since nevada requires certain course/s and i got denied in california. Im doomed. I hope everything went well!
unfortunately i don't have a license and from what I've read from Texas' application form if an IEN applicant does not have a license and a 2 year experience, the state requires the applicant enroll in a 120 hours of both clinicals and lecture.

[FONT=lucida grande]F) If you have not worked at least two (2) years as a first level, general nurse within the four (4) years preceding the filing of the application, you will not be licensed until you complete a Foreign Educated Nurse (FENS) refresher course consisting of 120 hours of classroom instruction and 120 hours of clinical practice under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The applicant required to take the FENS refresher will be given a six (6) month permit to complete the refresher course.

kjcarlos, if you don't have a license in the country you were trained you should send your application asap because starting by january 2013, Nevada will require proof of licensure. Jinxedminx and a couple of friends will be taking certain courses such as OB and medsurg in a school.

    Quote from Kjcarlos
Hello jinxedminx! Are you taking the certain courses they are asking you to take? Im planning to apply in nevada bon as i had been declined here in california. Its heart breaking so i really wanna make sure bout the next step i would take. My other option is texas!

No, I've spoken to a rep and education auditor, they informed me that it will not affect anyone who submitted and paid the application before 2013. It will be strictly applied by January though.

I still need to ask them how long this application will last, because I'm enrolling for a required medsurg this summer.
