    Hello,

I haven't seen a thread for us students starting Olivet this September so I thought I'd start one. I'm excited! I'm also a little nervous about the workload. I did very well when I got my first degree but I know this will be a tough 16 months! How is everyone else feeling?
Hi, I start this fall too! I'm loving the feeling of almost completing nursing school!!! I've tooken soooo many prerequisites and entrance exams!!! It's about that time to shine!!! New career ahead and much more possibilities!!! Yesmy schedule is very complicated but with God on my side, anything is possible (y)

Itt Tech Institute Breckenridge School of Nursing program is utterly ridiculous. They are luring uneducated optimistic people in daily . People need to wake up and smell the coffee because debt shouldn't be an option period.

Your resume means a lot and says a lot about you, sometimes you have to pay for a quality education! The staff is caring and loving and very much so Christian like! I fell in love with this school and will get my BSN from Olivet : Good luck Suey!

Olivet's program is really expensive & everyone that attends it has to take out private student loans b/c the amount they charge is over what federal student loans allow per semester.
I am fortunate to be one of the luckiest students to have financial aid, scholarship funds, and extra grant money, so the loans that I might have to take out for the rest of my expenses is not much as a average car! Not bad compared to moat colleges, but keep in mind your gen eds need to be completed before applying! Hey it's a BSN private University and they arw nationally accredited!

    Be aware that:

You are a guinea pig. Your program has no published NCLEX pass rate. In other states it is as low as 60%.

Your program has no national nursing accreditation. You will not be allowed to work in selective hospitals or for the federal government.

Your program has no regional academic accreditation. Your degree will not be accepted by but a tiny handful of other for-profit schools.

Your program is one of the most expensive out there.

Your potential employers know all these facts. You deserve to know them too.

    Good luck.
SummitRN, you are exactly right! I've heard and know that the ITT Technical Imsritute Nursing program is a waste of time, money, and stress. People try to get the easy way out of getting a nursing degree without finding out that their short cut can cause major distruction. This year I start my BSN classes in the Fall! I am so excited, because I earnestly worked hard academically to deserve a extraordinary priveledged spot in an incredible program! I heard that once you graduate fro ITT,, it's hard to find employent almost immediately. Most people want the title as RN, but at what cost??? I know that the economy is in distress but if you're in nursing for the money, shame on you and may God have mercy on your soul!

Hi HighPursuit23, wow that seems like a easy way to get into a BSN program compared to Governor's State. I too have been given the run around about whether or not to go straight for the BSN. I am currently attending PSC and will be applying to the Nursing program in the future. From what I have been told you have to be a nurse before you can apply to a BSN I'm not sure how true that is but two counselors have told me this a two different schools. If you find out any more information on the BSN please share I would love to go straight to a BSN program. Good luck on your nursing journey.
Hi, how are you doing Khalilahmr!!! Yes it is possible for you to get your BSN first!!! I am too a student at PSC!!! After taking the recommended courses for entrance into a BSN program, I will be starting an excellent program this Fall!!! Sometimes you have to do your own research about different Nursing schools!!! I figure if all nursing programs are hard and rigorus, I may as well attend a University rather than a community college!! I also heard a rumor about hospitals not hiring associate degree nurses off back, so leave your options open!!! Good luck!!!

Hi!!! I was just wondering about the BSN program at Olivet!!! In my situation, I have completed all of my general Ed's and science course work including General Chemistry!!! Olivet was recently at my school Prairie State College, where as they were recruiting more students to attend their school. They advisor that was representing the school made me feel extra warm with attending their program instead of PSC!!! In order for me to apply at Olivet, I need to take a medical terminology class.

Soooo, I'm currently a CNA (not a nurse)!!! Most of the nurses that I been coming accross has been telling me to get my associates first before I consider along with my BSN!!!

I know that it is in my heart to be a nurse, but I am still confused about which degree I should grasp onto first.... HELP

I am in St Louis, MO and will start as a new grad next month @ $21.00/hr working full time in acute care for the largest health system in the region. I also got an offer from the number 2 hospital system @ 20.80/hr. I am super excited to have a job (many of my classmates have not) but the pay is depressing. Listen, $21.00/hr is good money if you went to a community college and your whole nursing education cost you $5,000.00. But people like me who went to 4 year schools had to borrow 30-40K to pay for school tuition alone. Once those student loans payment start to kick in, plus rent, car payment and other expenses, $21.00/hr is going to be barely enough. The RN pay structure needs to be changed to reflect the reality of the BSN educated RN who enters the profession with tens of thousands in students loans versus the ADN nurse who starts almost debt free.
That's exactly why I'm considering a community college instead of a private college or a university. Thanks everyone for this news feed, it's really helpful in making the decision of the NURSING PROGRAM that fits my location and budget!!! Thanks a million

Hello DCW!!! It's been awhile since I have logged onto this website!!! Okay, this semester I currently have 87 points that's not in included with my three other classes that I'm taking this fall. If this semester goes the way that I planned for it to go, I will have over 116 points as my rank score. So there's nothing else to do next semester, but wait and take no classes. I do plan to prep for a better Heisa A2 score!!! My best advice is to stick with your career goals!!! I applied for the ADN program last year and I didn't get in, but I'm not giving up. Let me know how things are going for you hun. I hope and pray that all is well.

hey you, thanks for the reply, i got the acceptance letter about a week ago. let me know how you're doing-and don't let this school change you're profession. i know any school like to weed people out, so i am not that excited to be 1 of the 95 people. i feel like i didn't really earn to be in the program due to the fact i got 20 indistrict points. my grades are high but my confidence is low because of not getting in last year. i have to regroup and get back into gear because i work, and plan on quitting when i start this program.
if you did not receive a letter by last week that means you didn't get in, i called last week and they sent the letters out may 4th, and said they will be sending rejection letters out about a week after may 4th.
i will definitely keep you updated on the program and what to expect and i hope you get in, and if not now, then next year, make sure you keep you're grades up in communication 101, psych 101&, a&p 1&2 micro, eng 101 & 102 and humanities if you take it. dr. nelson is awesome for a&p.
keep me updated! let me know if you have anymore questions

ATTENTION: THIS IS FOR ALL THE FUTURE NURSING STUDENTS THAT IS CONSIDERING PRAIRIE STATE COLLEGE FOR THEIR ADN PROGRAM!!!

It's all true about your rank score and your performance on the Heisa A2 exam!!! DO NOT BE FOOLED!!! I JUST RECIEVED MY LETTER AND IT WASN'T EVEN SENT CERTIFIED MAIL LIKE THE REST OF THE STUDENTS THAT HAD GOTTEN ACCEPTED!!! IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING THIS COLLEGE, THEREFORE YOU MUST KNOW IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR LETTER THE SAME DAY OR WITHIN THE SAME TIME AS THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAD RECIEVED THERE LETTER, THEN MOST LIKELY, YOU WASN'T ACCEPTED!!! SOOOO DON'T GO ALL ABOUT PUTTING YOUR EGGS INTO ONE BASKET!!! THERE ARE OTHER COLLEGES TO CONSIDER BESIDES PRAIRIE STATE!!! AGAIN, NOTHING WRONG WITH ATTENDING PRAIRIE STATE COLLEGE!!! JUST BROADEN YOUR OPTIONS!!!

WHEN THEY SENT THE LETTER IT STARTED OFF LIKE THIS... " I REGRET TO INFORM YOU" SO DON'T BE A FOOL OKAY!!!

IT'S ALL TRUE ABOUT THE RANK SCORE!!!

THANKS FOR ALL OF THE FEED BACK AND I SINCERELY WISHES ALL OF THE FUTURE AND CURRENT STUDENTS THE BEST IN THEIR FUTURE AMBITIONS OF BECOMING A REGISTERED NURSE!!!

Try to play nice guys. You might wind up being in the same class together lol. Trust me you don't want to start off on the wrong foot with people you'll be spending 2 years with.

You are exactly right Jasel!!! I'm just going to fall back and be nice!!! Because of course, I am a caring, loving, and a very sociable person !!! No hard feelings to NURSEBETTIE AND ANYONE OF YOU !!! I WISH NOTHING BUT THE BEST!!! I'M JUST A LITTLE ANXIOUS ABOUT THE OUTCOMES OF THIS LETTER THAT'S ALL !!!

I know that you all are over joyed about your acceptance letters into the ADN PROGRAM!!! I AM SOOO HAPPY FOR YOU ALL, BECAUSE YOU WORK SOOO HARD TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE IN LIFE!!! DON'T GIVE UP!!!

AS FOR ME, I'M AT HOME, YET AND STILL WAITING ON MY ACCEPTANCE LETTER FROM PRAIRIE STATE COLLEGE!!!

I have so much on my mind right now!!! I'm just wondering for the people that they didn't select for this years nursing program, was they the last to receive their letters??? I previously talked to Nicole today, and she told me that she mailed some more letters out today!!! I'm just thinking hard.
What I'm trying to say is, the letters that they sent off earlier this week is for the people that got accepted? I don't know what's going on???

SOOO SINCE YOU ALL HAD MORE THAN ONE EXPERIENCE APPLYING FOR PRAIRIE STATE'S NURSING PROGRAM, HOW WAS THE LETTER'S DISTRIBUTED??? DID THE MAST MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT IN THE PROGRAM GET THEIR LETTERS LAST???
