I just joined in! Thanks for creating Maddy

I also have the majority of my items done, including Hep B, Vaccines, flu....and a walk in for my appt for bloodwork at my doctors. Most offices won't charge a copay because you may only need the nurse to do labs and paperwork. My physical is up to date so I don't need that. I have the CPR because I'm a PCT locally. Very excited and nervous like all of you. I can't believe we start in January!

I just got a letter from MC that said I GOT INTO THEIR PROGRAM!!! I am so excited and thrilled. It has been 2 years in the making, change of career path, and a lot of hard work that has definitely paid off!! Good luck and hope to meet each of you soon!

Yep, still waiting! Anyone hear anything yet? Just want to KNOW so bad!
I'm a little anxious because I haven't completed A & P II yet. Don't know if applicants are accepted without it. I'm taking it right now and have a 97% at midterm. I have all other pre-reqs met and did pretty good on the TEAS.
Oh well, I keep telling myself that I'll just re-apply for Fall 2013 if I can't get in for the spring.
Hi MaddyG, Nothing yet here! I hope maybe next week. I have a gf in the program for this fall so she will ask next week again. I will write in once I hear and good luck!!

As SOON as everyone receives their letters update us online! I wish we would hear sooner since the pushed back deadline. We've been waiting since August, ugh. I am still checking my mail everyday.

Hi! It's nice meeting you! Did you apply for the first deadline? I know they extended it to Sept 21st now. I don't know if that is good or bad for us?! I am doing ok waiting but it's frustrating because they told me November but Fall posts showed October. Have you heard anything? A gf that is in the program now she said we'll hear mid October. I also heard the class this term is only in the 60's with no drops yet. A little background on me, I left my 'corporate' job in patient education 2 years ago to pursue my 3rd degree in nursing. It has always been my dream but it happened on its own path. How about you?

If I were you, I'd gte other books besides just the ATI. Not that that book isn't helpful; it is, but you should try getting the McGraw Hill Nursing Entrance Exam study book. I have the whole PDF if you would like. I can email it to you. It has 433 pages, but it's worth it. I read every single page--you'd be shocked on how quick you can go thorugh the pages. If you're the type who takes your time to study, and you study that PDF with ATI, you should be okay.As far as the sceince/chemistry portion--to be honest, science is SO extremely random. Ridiculously random. At the end of the test, they will give you a remediation paper. It will tell you which sections you go wrong. For instance say there was a question on the test about punnet squares and it asked you something like--If a Heterozygous and a Homozygous mated, what would the offspring have--and you answered it wrong, that paper will tell you that you have to go back and read up on Punnet Squares and it;ll tell you the page number in the ATI manual. You'd think it's helpful, but like I said the test is SO RANDOM. SO it will have a question about one of the topics covered in ATI, except SO MUCH MORE IN DEPTH. The ATI wouldn't cover half of what they asked in one question, you know? So even if you seen the question you got wrong [which you won't] and went back to the page number it says to turn to, you still wouldn't find the answer. Some tests are more skewed towwards CHEM, others aren't. Mine didn't have many questions about chem, and if it did it was very basic. So I suggest getting the McGraw Hill. Maybe your Library has it.

UMD is a great school! Sadly it is a little far for me, commute wise, given DC area traffic.

Spring 2013 is right around the corner, so at least you won't have much of a wait.

When I was transferring schools as an undergrad, I ran into some of the same issues, being both accepted & denied at surprising places, using the same identical application (the Common Application) & references. It was frustrating & bizarre.

I visited MU's campus & they stressed the importance of extra lab science experience being very desirable, so I would be confused, too. Your grades were very good.I have a science based undergrad (bio anthropology) & grad work (forensic science), plus experience teaching Chemistry, but that is unusual & not expected. I really doubt every admitted student was a science major, especially with prerequisite courses still outstanding.

When I was rejected from places I really wanted to go as an undergrad, I ended up calling back & talking to an admissions rep. Sometimes it was useless (lots of qualified applicants, blah, blah, blah), other times I got really helpful info (rewrite an essay, get a stronger reference, etc...). If you're genuinely curious, it might be worth a shot.
I have both an undergrad BA and MA in Corporate and Public Communication, all jobs I have had all being in health care with the most recent one working for GSK, the pharmaceutical company marketing Oncology patient education. I have worked the past 2 years at a local Johns Hopkins affiliated hospital as a patient care tech, and had stellar recommendations and beautiful essay. There is not much more I could do and was happy with everything I submitted. I can tell you that to say it was my academic record is not competitive enough is a slap in the face. I had one B as a Masters student and undergrad was in 2003! I would think my recent sciences would prove that to them. I also addressed it in my essay.

Tabby, sorry for the rant...I wish you all the best!

SU is too far but Maryland has been my #1 choice. I applied to MU on a whim but will npt be applying to them in the future. Ill be able to start nursing school Spring 2013 as originally planned. MD has a great program and is close by which is also a concern as I care for my mom. MU definitely missed out on one of the best candidates...the nursing influx has caused the "best" future nurses missed opportunities. Its a wonder people still arr accepted with 2-3 major sciences courses in progress when I completed all but 1 in progress with on 1 B out of all 4!
