  1. New DON is Unprofessional

It could be worse. Your Nurse manager could be sisters with the HR Director like in my hospital. Talk about trying to get "fair and just"...it just doesn't happen.
  2. resp therapy vs RN

    What does "pation" mean?
  3. Being a RT & a RN?

I am an RRT and a RN. I use to work full time as a RT and prn as a nurse. Then I flipped it. I have a great advantage with the knowledge of 2 degrees. I find myself doing both jobs at the same time and it is not uncommon to do so. I work in a 25 bed ...
  4. Dumbest thing a student/newbie ever said/did?

as far as making mistakes or trying not to...you will make them. it's okay. that is how we learn. that is how we grow to be better! do not worry. all is well!
  5. I will work 2 18 and a 12 hour shift in a week and in a row. However, these are not scheduled but rather "open shift incentives". THey can be difficult at times but I want extra money. I would prefer 12 hours.
  6. How busy is your unit this Christmas?

in ob now and we are 1:1. pretty quiet so far!
  7. Thanks !Where R U from?

Hello all! From the NW part of the State. Around the Lakes area!
  8. ICU/CCU 12 hour Wages

I really can't see how that would be even feasible for the Hospital. It would cost more money to staff 8 then it would 12 hours due to the increase in staff it would take to staff the 8. I've seen facilities ask the staff a preferance of 8 or 12 hour...
  9. NCLEX Thursday..... I need Advice!!!

No matter what...take a break. Just kick back from the PC and go out of the room for 15 minutes and then come back in. It will relax you. And do not freak if you go over 75 questions and the PC does not shut off. Just remember to breathe.
  10. Opinions needed!

I have to agree with what they are saying. I strongly suggest at least 2 years of Med/Surg but with your experience...I would recommend 1 year. You won't regret it and you will have a broader knowledge base for your other position.
  11. LPN and RRT(Resp Therapy)??

My pay is higher as an RRT becasue I do that as a Casual Posistion and there is a significant difference in pay for Casual Employees. I do have to remember what "Hat" I am wearing at times..but I find that I am doing both jobs at the same time. Knowl...
  12. LPN and RRT(Resp Therapy)??

I had both for the longest time and it benefited me. Then I went back for my RN as I promised myself I would. If your "Dream Job" is to be an RN working in Labor and Delivery, I'd suggest going for the dream. What is it you really want to do?
  13. Resp. Therapy

They do everything to Intubate to insert Art Lines...Ventilators...PFT's...IPPB(that's right..I said that) to nebs...EKG's..HOlters...TMT's..Event Monitors and EEG's. We do it all....
  14. resp therapy vs RN

:) I have been an RRT and an RN for several years. I enjoy doing both jobs and all at the same time. As far as wages go, RN's get paid more in the long run.
