About barcode120x

barcode120x has 9 years experience as a RN, NP and specializes in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Work. Gym. Eat. Sleep. Video game. Repeat.

Finally left bedside nursing of about 7.5 years on the telemetry floor to pursue my NP career as of August 2022 and haven't looked back since. Currently working as an NP as a PM&R provider and I do per diem work as a VA medical examiner. Feel free to DM me for any questions!

"Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me."

  1. Unless your hospital has a policy on excusable call offs (which I would imagine most don't), a call off is a call off and it likely doesn't matter what conditions you have. I don't mean to rub off on the wrong way, but it really doesn't matter what y...

Should NPs learn from Korean MD strikes?

I've been looking this topic and comments for awhile and I am still not really understanding why you want me/NPs to go on strike. I work with great NP colleagues and I'm not fearful of losing my job to another new grad NP. I do agree there are more N...
  3. When I was full time, I typically did a 2 one 1 off type of deal and only did 3 in a row if it was a Fri, Sat, Sun. Working out in between shifts was awful as I was both tired from waking up early, then I was tired the entire shift from that workout ...

    The Movie Thread

Definitely recommend the new FX series Shogun! It was just released this week with 2 episodes. I've heard that it's arguable just as good, if not better than GoT by some and so far, it's great! Slow start, but that's expected and all the acting is to...
  5. I'm on my 2nd week into PM&R and loving it and the training program that they have laid out for me the next couple weeks (since I have 0 experience, and just barely a year as an NP). The providers and preceptors I have are all amazing and great t...

    APEA Predictor

I hate to throw this at you, but for my program they told me that if I do not pass the retake APEA predictor test, it would be a potential failure out of the program and not a simple retake of the course. The course/unit itself was literally just tha...

Opinion about starting NP program at 53

Since you are in good health I don't think your age will be a problem. A better question to ask yourself is what other reasons are you going for NP? Getting your NP for more money shouldn't be the only reason why you are going for it. Depending on wh...

DNP part-time is how many classes?

I am pretty sure your class professors or program director can answer your questions more accurately.

    NP Salary/Pay Let's Be Transparent

^ The exact truth. @jnb1740 I went into FNP knowing that I did not want to do FP/ at all but it was the baseline to get in order to get into other specialties. There are definitely well compensated jobs outside of FP, it just may take some time ...

I too am a big fan of Phoenix. I won't say Napoleon was that great or near his greatest act, but still good nonetheless.

This is a TV series, but definitely recommend Masters of the Air which is currently airing and on episode 4 if anyone enjoys the military genre. I recommend watching Band of Brothers and The Pacific first as both give different views and feels of war...

    NP Salary/Pay Let's Be Transparent

About to approach my first year as a "working NP." Started my first job earlier in 2023 doing contract work doing annual wellness visits, in home ($125) and tele ($90). I was too excited at first, but after a few weeks starting, I realized my coverin...

Can we stop with the class discussion boards?

I didn't care for or against it. It was mindless busy work in both my BSN and FNP program, but it was easy and it was just another task to get my grade. If anything, I was amazed and perplexed about how some just didn't even know how to write an adeq...

What does a shadow interview entail?

In my one and only shadow experience when I was first starting and looking for a job as an NP, I followed an NP for a few home visits. Basically you get to see a bit into the day in a life of an employee that is doing a similar position as you. It's ...

    Online or In person?

I guess you could say technically my program was hybrid because we had 2-3 days must-attend seminars (basically all day lectures on course content and a few exams) at the beginning and end of every semester on campus while the remainder of everything...
