I've been licensed since 2012, it's just that I've been working as a home visitor/public health nurse and need to go to NTP

Do any of you know when we should expect to hear back about selections?
I have my CN Interview tomorrow

Do any of you know how your experience translates into credit towards your rank? I know NTP is for less than 1 year of experience but chances are some of the candidates will acquire at least some experience before commissioning and COT. Just wondering.

So I'm getting ready for my chief nurse interview, should get my date soon. I am however a little nervous of my entire transition period so if anyone has any tips (especially you military spouses). I am currently working in Okinawa as a civilian DOD employee so I would have to go back to the states before COT and My husband and children would receive our house hold
Goods and stay with family while I'm at COT and NTP. my kids are school aged as well. Any tips? I don't want to register them for a school for just a couple months. Looking at COT may or August. Sorry for the long post.

Classes were ok. The most challenging were the advanced patho, pharmo, health assessment but that's probably because it haven't been bedside for a long while. I am applying for OB and you? I understand it's super competitive, like super.

It went really well! The Lt. Col. was very friendly and definitely put me at ease. It felt more like a discussion rather than an interview.

Are you applying for FQ or NTP? I'm only asking because I would assume that with a MSN you would have over a year of experience and would go FQ. Either way, how is your process going? Is your spouse AD as well (since you're in Okinawa)?
That's awesome! Good Luck. I still haven't received that date for my interview. I have actually only done community health and Home visiting so the Air Force does not consider that experience, so I have to apply via NTP. My husband is not AD, I am a DOD employee overseas, doing home visiting.

I have my CN interview tomorrow. Thankfully my husband is AD AF and we live on base so I don't have far to go. He's currently deployed so I feel like I'm being pulled in a million directions lately (two kids). I can't wait until all of the components of the application are done and I can sit back and wait (although that's hard too). How is everyone else doing?
    How did your interview go?

Thank you for your feedback jfratian. My experience is in Community Health Nursing with the military (pregnant, babies, and young children) but since its not "clinical" I am considered a "new" nurse and need to do NTP. I think that's another reason why my recruiter thinks I have a good shot. However if I don't get in, I think I will take your advice and go get some experience. In fact I am starting to do a shift a week at my local Naval Hospital on the L&D floor but since its not "full-time" again the Air force doesn't consider that experience either.

That's so little OB, I'm nervous but recruiter said I should stick to OB if that's what I want. I understand that extra curricular things are really considered. I'm interested in hearing about the GPA thing too though.

I'll be applying as an experienced nurse transitioning into L&D at Mary Birch (I understand they do the same training as new grads). I know a lot about Marriage Birch and would love to work there but I hear the pay is low for San Diego. Does anyone know what the starting pay is? Night differential? BSN, MSN pay?

Camo-angel that's great!!! When do you go to OCT? Any tips? And when do you find out where you are doing for NTP & assignment? I am a little nervous about how I'll transition form okinawa Japan to the states if I get picked.

My recruiter told me they had about 95 applicants for 30 Med surge and 5 OB last round and should be something similar next. Did anyone hear anything different?

I plan to apply for FY 2017. I understand it is competitive and limited OB spots, can't wait to follow this thread and hopefully hear from other applicants. I have experience as a home visiting nurse with military families, but since I have only community health nursing experience I must apply as a New nurse.
