Im not sure about sacramento BUT in my state i was able to get a job as a PCA(same as CNA here) with no experience... They train you for everything you need to know!! Look around like at large hosiptals in your area and see if there are any positions for PCA! Or even PCT they also on the job train im going through ny prereqs and ive gained so much experience in just one month!!!

I wanted to make sure nursing was the job for me and i really wanted to get my foot in the door reguardless if i hated it. I knew in my heart i wouldnt ! I love my job as a PCA on a medsurg unit, there is a lot of variety and ive learned SO much.... I work alongside quite a few new grads who give me advice on a daily basis

I currently work at St. Vincent's and it's in the 20's there!! I wish I was already making that! I'm only a PCA right now! But was told in my initial interview the wages for an RN.

Try calling and speaking with the HR department, show that you are following your interview up!

Study somewhere that there are no distractions. Such as a library, etc. Study for an hour a day.. And break this hour into increments. Because if you try to study it all at once its going to hit you like a ton of bricks! So make sure to study in increments that was a big part in my success to this class You will eventually get the hang of it!

Don't worry, just check around and get reviews on your professors. I took this class when I was 17, just finished HS. I was homeschooled and did not have to take science my last two years because I had already finished them. My professor was not easy but he was through and would answer questions! Also make sure to take the time to study! Studying is key to success in this class!!

I had one interview but with two separate people. I first interviewed with HR and they just asked the typical get to know you questions, explained the job, and talked about benefits and pay. Then I interviewed with the unit manager on the actual floor and she pretty much asked me why I chose that hospital, my school situation, and she just then explained the job to me in somewhat further detail.. And that was that, had the call back the next day and was offered the position

Really? Is this a large hospital? They should not be able to do that, when you sign paperwork, it's kind of like a contract, they can't just PUSH you down to part time if you were suppose to be full time. I know they can say well we don't really need you this shift but you can still come in if you want we will find something for you to do... Thats how the situation should be. Would they not let you float?! and I got the job!!! i've done two days of orientation and have 2 more, then i'll start my preceptor-ship!
