About sgalvin07

We all know the saying, "Opinions are like ***holes" and I fit the mold. I have an opinion about a lot of things, but am always open to criticism and critiques. I'm a constant learner, always trying to look further into things to understand them. Seems like I'm the perpetual student, however I finally found my calling in Health care.

  1. Med-Surg cert review

I just took the certification exam today (and passed). I downloaded the AMSN app on my phone and iPad, they had like 250+ questions with rationales, and I believe you could break it down by body system. I also purchased a few test packs from CMSRNpr...
  2. It's been so long

I happened to find this site again and looking through my profile it seems that I haven't posted anything since I first passed the NCLEX. It's crazy to think how much has changed in this short 2.5 years since I first claimed the title of RN. Here ...

  5. Adult Med/Surg ATI test -- advice? Did you pass?

I hesitate to answer that because I do not want you to get the wrong idea, or take the wrong approach. The book is 1283 pages. I will say, I probably read about 300 pages, mostly focused on areas that I felt weaker in, had questions about, noticed I ...

  7. studying .. what do you think?

Do what works for you, it's the only way to get through school..Being that you're in your first semester, I think you'll eventually see that you change as well. It's fundamentals, right now it's memorizing and regurgitating. For some people they do...
  8. Adult Med/Surg ATI test -- advice? Did you pass?

I had the luxury of taking the Adult Med Surg ATI today.... Needless to say I studied all weekend, 12 hours Sat. and 12 hours Sun... Mostly took practice tests, all of the codes that I had I took them, read the rationales both the correct answers and...
  9. So, I've finally made it to the place I once thought would never get here. I'm moving on to role transition (after I pass my huge ATI test next Monday.....here's to being positive). Hopefully I'm not looking too far into the future, but I feel conf...
  10. My worst fear come true.

I'm so sorry to hear about what you are going through. I know the joys I'm feeling about my pending granduation in March, but as I go into role transition it's also a stern reminder for me to be careful and think about everything that I'm doing. As ...

  12. How hard are the nursing programs at state schools?

Nursing school is not easy by any stretch of the imagination. I'm going into my last bit, entering role transition. Every school is different in terms of how they stagger their class load, but the content is essentially the same throughout accredit...
  13. Pharmacology

It's all in what kind of student you are and how you learn best. Pharm is one of the few nursing classes that unfortunately is based on memorization. Note cards, write it out 100 times, learn to associate them with things that will make you remember....
  14. How do you get thicker skin?

There's only ONE person in this world that you can control, and that is yourself. Try as you might you can't control anyone else, nor can you please everyone. Granted I'm still a nursing student until march, I have had plenty of experiences in othe...
  15. NUR DX question about infection

Yes to the depth. It's in there just mixed in too close with the rest. 2.5 x 2 x 2.5cm I personally don't like Risk for diagnosis as they are. Been preached at about them too many times I try to stay away from them. And personally you have my hea...
