  1. Kaplan vs. ATI

I used Kaplan for NCLEX and I thought it was EXTREMELY helpful. I would highly recommend it. I took a class (in person, not online) and used their online program. I followed their program outline with taking the practice tests, etc. and it was very h...
  2. New grad with job offer...but not excited...

I will re-iterate what everyone else said - take the job! Any experience is better than no experience and it is a tough job market. So, if you like the position and the clinic - other than the fact that it is not acute care - then I would take it.
  3. Volunteer abroad after graduation?

pineapplecat, Can I ask you what programs you found that you liked? Thanks!
  4. When to apply for jobs?

You have the right idea - apply as soon as you can! Start applying during your last semester. Hospitals take a long time to process stuff a lot of the time, and the job market is not great either. So starting out early can only help! For your resume,...
  5. NYU's favorite schools for prereqs

Hi, I graduated from NYU's accelerated program. I would agree with chiasmus100 up above, who said to take it at the school where you feel like you will get the best grade. I also think that is most important. It's better to get an A at a community co...
  6. Should I take a part time position as a new grad??

I will re-iterate what others have said and say - take it! Honestly, if everything else about the position is great then I think it's a no brainer. When a full-time position opens up you will have a much, much easier time getting it. It's a foot in t...
  7. Should I Include my Clinical Rotations in my Resume

I know there are a lot of comments here, and I didn't read all of them very closely, so I'm sorry if this is redundant. I had two nursing recruiters tell me to definitely put clinical rotations on my resume -- not classes or lectures - but clinical r...
  8. Accepted job at NYP-Cornell!

I had two friends that took the pharm exam for NYP and I heard that it is important to take the practice exam online! They said that is a HUGE help and that the real exam is very similar.
  9. NYP housing

I happen to know several people who live in NYP housing, but at the Cornell campus, not Columbia. The rent is definitely more affordable than comparable studios in the area. I would assume that up at Columbia it would also be a good deal - that is th...
  10. Need Advice- Moving to NY

If you are persistent and just keep looking you can find something! I know new grads who did get jobs in PEDS and NICU, although they may have had personal connections. But, it is possible! I did a clinical at Children's Hospital at Montefiore, which...
  11. Hi all- I am taking the pre-employment pharmacology exam for St. Luke's-Roosevelt in a couple days and I am wondering if anyone has taken it. I am wondering if the test gets as specific as to ask for the exact dosage ranges for all of the medications...
  12. Roosevelt hospital-start in July!

Hi citygrl646- I saw your post from a couple years ago and I am in the same boat you were right now! I am about to take the pharmacology exam at Roosevelt and I'm pretty nervous. Can you please help me out and tell me if I need to memorize all of the...
