About FCMike11

FCMike11 has 13 years experience as a BSN and specializes in ICU.

I was a nurse previously of 7 years who worked ED/ICU/CVOR/Cath-lab before going back to medical school.

Currently in my fourth year; will likely be pursuing family medicine.  I explored all avenues of advanced practice nursing & the PA profession before deciding on medical school.  I am glad to share anything I may from my experiences.

  6. A Day in the life of an ICU nurse?

I work nights, 7 on 7 off. My schedule: roll in at 1830, finish report by 1900 at latest, do my assessments, and check charts/orders and attend to anything that needs immediate attention. At that point (2000-2100) I like to have this hour aside, las...

  8. Mistakes we have made

You called a doctor for an order to reinsert an NG tube? Do you call a doctor every time an IV goes bad for an order to put another one in?

Patient on bedrest for NSTEMI scheduled for a cath in the morning is screaming "I want to drink naturally, so I can pee naturally and poop naturally" I was lolling in my head hard, she didnt mutter another word the rest of the night and was very comp...

You have not worked with any residents that did medical school in the US online. You may work with those who chose not to go to lecture, but view it recorded via their school. Its pretty common knowledge that lecture attendance isnt required for lo...
