I have been an RN for 3 yrs, with 3yrs of home care experience and about 30 shifts of ER experience before I was hired at another hospital for a .5 ER position. I am just now finishing up with my preceptor. I believe we had about 20 shifts of precept...
  2. I agree that your workplace sounds exceptionally toxic. I am a 3yr RN grad, with about 2-3 mos experience in the ED, when I got hired on at another ED. The environment is totally different from what you describe. While I can tell the other nurses are...
  3. Dear People Who CONSTANTLY fax Health 485s

The other consideration is that the patient is in danger of losing their home health services if there is no valid MD order for the cert period, signed in time. In my experience as a Case Manager who creates the 485's, some docs take a month or more ...
  4. Anyone work in HH as new grad and do just fine?

I started as a new grad in home care. I did 2 visits with my DON and she set me loose. I do not recommend her method! After 2-3 months of doing visits I became a FT case manager. I have been doing it now for 2 1/2 years, and feel really pretty confid...

  7. The dumbest thing you've ever heard...

Just yesterday I had a 91 yo man, still living at home, tell me he had two bugs in his skin. One was on his left hand. He said that one bites, scratches and pinches underneath the skin. The other one was behind his right ear. He said that one "screec...

  9. From Home Care to TCU: advice requested

Sorry, it means Transitional Care Unit--an in between from the hospital acute care and home.
  10. Hello, I am currently a Case Manager for a small private home health company that I love. Independence, flexibility, great clients (for the most part:)) I graduated about 1 1/2 years ago and it was my first job. I am moving to a job in a TCU not bec...
  11. Where to look for a job?

I have never heard of a central place for applying to jobs around here. From what I can tell, hospitals recruit through their own websites primarily. I use Craigslist for buying and selling, but I don't think I'd trust it for jobs, or for putting my ...
