  1. Not sure whether to continue my nursing career... Input?

I have to say I agree that it seems like the facility hung u out to dry. When I made my insulin error, every one of my supervisors backed me up bc they knew I was new & had a lot going on. They also praised me for being honest about what happened...
  2. Medicare halls

The facility I work has the MCR residents spread throughout the facility. That being said, we do have a particular wing that is higher acuity but the same amount of staff to care for it. I'm PRN so I work all over the building & I'm not gonna lie...
  3. Advice for first job in a SNF?

Ok I've checked it out my quote is for an annual premium, so does that mean I only have to pay that small amount once a year to protect my license?! If so, that is MORE than worth it!! Awesome :)
  4. Advice for first job in a SNF?

How do we go about doing that?
  5. I am not Superwoman

I would have had a FIT over the Tamiflu alone, never mind everything else. I'm not going to administer a drug that isn't ordered & you better bet I'm gonna have someone helping me enter 40+ orders. I agree with everyone else, sounds like you did ...
  6. Good nurse vs bad nurse

Sounds very familiar! Usually after 12 hours I just want to collapse...hopefully we r blessed with good oncoming nurses who will keep the cycle going rather than saying “you do your own (fill in the blank)”...hate coworkers that aren't team players!!
  7. Not sure whether to continue my nursing career... Input?

That's pretty much exactly how it happened with me. We get thrown to the wolves, sink or swim!

  9. Problems/Issues Encountered as an Director of Nursing

I absolutely agree about the morale & keeping staff happy with their job. Obviously not everyone will be happy with their job or situation, you can't help that. But just prove you care, get out & help them, show that you're not afraid to get ...

  11. Do all of your LTC charts have face sheets?

The facility I work at uses computer charting but we also have hard charts that we file orders, labs, etc. in & we have face sheets for both! I can't imagine having quick access to that info, I would be terrified of making a mistake without prope...
  12. Good nurse vs bad nurse

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. And I'm not dependent on outside kudos, I know they're few & far between. But I do always give it my best & I know that's all I can do. Just wish I didn't think of more things I could hav...
  13. Good nurse vs bad nurse

I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from everyone I work with so I think I am pretty hard on myself. I just expect quality care for each resident & for everything to get done, and be done right! Seems like there aren't enough hours in the day ...
  14. Good nurse vs bad nurse

Does anyone else constantly have this battle with themselves? Some days I leave work feeling like I was a good nurse who made a difference but then other days I leave feeling like a complete failure. I've been working PRN in LTC since August & st...
  15. Roll call for LPN students starting July and Aug.

Every time I hear Poplar Bluff, MO I think of Charlene Frasier on Designing Women :)
