  1. What do patients say that irks you?

"They gave me the birth control to help build my immune system because they said it was low" *blank stare...grabs chart and walks out the room*
  2. Dilemma... How to leave gracefully

Definitely a two week notice and leave. As one of my professors told me in undergrad "Your first job is simply just that, your first job. Don't feel obligated to stay if you find something better or are unhappy"
  3. student nurse venting about paperwork

I truly learned how to chart once I started on the floor. In nursing school it was care plans galore, and each hospital or clinic that we rotated at had different systems for charting.
  4. All Those NPs with No Bedside Experience

My original post was supposed to be positive but I see I am catching a lot of heat on here, so I do apologize for initiating "ownership" by stating I would not look down on "my nursing staff" due to having a higher degree. It was taken out of context...

  6. All Those NPs with No Bedside Experience

I am an NP student currently in my clinical rotations. The school I am getting my MSN at required 1year of experience before you could even start with a basic grad level stats course. This semester has been my first one doing hands on patient care an...
  10. Your experience as a Postpartum/Mother Baby RN

I worked as a postpartum RN for a level III in an underserved area of Chicago. And honestly I liked it. My typical shift I would have an average of 4-5 couplets (mom and baby) so essentially that is 8-10patients. I would start doing rounds and giving...
  11. Medical Assistants the new RNs???

Another thing I noticed in this thread was some of the disrespect that MAs were giving to nurses, even though they are trying to be nurses. Please be aware of this negative energy you put out as you will soon find once you are an RN MAs who say the s...

Well I only have 3 years of nursing experience so it's new to me.....
  14. Is it me or are more and more doctor's offices replacing RNs with MAs? Some places go as far as letting them do histories, injections, and give results. As a nurse I have worked as a patient care tech/cna but I also know the level of critical thinkin...
