Hey there! Wouldn't you believe it, another question about heel sticks! :) Last night I had a kiddo that I needed a blood sugar sample from. She had a right club foot and that was the foot I was using for the test, so her foot curved outward, making ...
  2. Tourniquet with heel sticks?

So last night I had to get labs from a 1 month old. We stuck his heel, but it didn't bleed well and clotted before we had enough blood (plus it looked like it was starting to hemolyze). So I stuck on a tourniquet to look for a vein to straight stick ...

  9. Feeling depressed with new job as a nurse...

This is so encouraging. I'm a new grad, too, and just feel completely overwhelmed and depressed all the time. At first I was really good at being productive on my days off but now it's like I've hit a wall and don't want to do anything but lay around...
  10. Anyone in peds neuroscience?

I have a friend who just began working as a neuroscience nurse. She says she has a lot of kids with CP, epilepsy, strokes, etc. I think it's a big variety, but out of all the floors you could work on, I'd say neuro has the most epilepsy. Good luck!!
  11. question for people who took kaplan and nclex-rn

Sure! Well, everything I did is pretty much in that original post, but as far as a timeline... my school actually provided Kaplan as part of our tuition, so we took the in-person class sometime in October before graduating in December. That included ...

Hey! I just took my NCLEX this week and passed with 75 questions! :) You can do it!!! I actually used Kaplan and Hurst... with Hurst, I just watched the lectures. I didn't use any of their practice questions. It was a really good review and hit all ...
