  1. Nurses RX..who has traveled with them?

I agree with NedRN about talking with other agencies. I didn't find NursesRX to have the most "mature" or honest recruiters. I made the decision not to work with them and have contacts with several other agencies. Good luck.
  2. Northern california hospitals to avoid

RNFiona, did your friend detail how travelers were not treated well? Was it scheduling or assignment load or something else? Thanks.
  3. Rude recruiter!!!

I had a recruiter (4 years ago) submit my application at an East Coast (Florida) hospital that we never discussed!!! The manager called me for a telephone interview! I'm sure I sounded like a moron repeating "where are you located? how did you get my...
  4. Any pediatric floor travelers?

YES! There are many general pediatrics travel assignments. Be aware highest needs are during the winter season. I have traveled for the last 3 years and have not had any problems securing a gen peds position. The first one was at a Navajo reservation...
  5. Any older travelers out there?

It's certainly not like that nasty MTV show about travel nurses (unless you want that I guess). I didn't start traveling until mid 40's and I have met many other "mature" travelers and made new friends. It's about your attitude and sense of adventure...
  6. Moving from NYC to Augusta, GA.

Hope your move to Augusta went smoothly. I have an opportunity to apply for a travel nurse job in Augusta, how do you like the area? Curious if you feel it is safe, fun, etc. Thanks!
  7. ADN2003, There were lots of choices for short term housing here in Mesa. I found a one bedroom @1.5 miles from Banner Desert/Cardon Children's. It's called Stonegate Apartments. It's on S. Alma School Road. Their one bedroom starts at $777/month for...
  8. Thanks everyone! It's too hard to decide on a place without seeing it. I think I may have to find something after I get there. Thanks for all the advice!
  9. First time traveling with spouse and am searching for short term furnished housing near Banner Desert/Cardon Children's. I will be working at Cardon and understand that due to traffic and just the whole size of the Phoenix area, that I should stay so...
  10. Travelers Conference?

Getting excited about the conference, my first one. Looking forward to meeting other travelers and getting some fantastic advice! See you all there!
  11. Kaiser LA, San Jose, San Fran- who's been?

Thank you Cali! Your post helped me decide not to submit to Kaiser! Would be nice to just take care of the patients without all the fluff
  12. Houston Texas

I'm in Houston now, at Texas Children's. Yup, this place is huge. I searched Craigslist (I know, kinda scary) but have been lucky and found furnished rooms for rent, it's really close to the medical center area also. The only issue with travel jobs ...
  13. Yuma Regional Medical Center

Hi Rhondy, How do you like it at YRMC so far? I'm thinking of taking a travel position there and have seen many mixed reviews. Thanks! Judy
  14. Thanks Tango! I'm thinking it's a bullying tactic (as it is an AMN co.) Hope they don't try to take it out of my bank acct! BTW-love your profile pic!:heartbeat
  15. I also verbally accepted a travel job, submitted all of my documentation, but never signed the actual contract. Now due to family issues, I called to tell the recruiter I have to decline the offer, which is to start Jan 4, 2012. The recruiter told me...
