    We use them when we are short on techs, and they are a great asset, since they can start IVs-saves the RNs a great deal oftime. We are exploring the idea of replacing the techs with medics.

    One of my problems is that I work in ED and patients and families automatically think I am the doctor, despite frequently reminding them that I am not. It leads to a lot of confusion regarding their treatment.

    My hospital has box lunches available for patients and family (even staff when the going gets rough!). We also have coffe 24/7 in waiting rooms in the ER and ICU. Staff can get the coffee also.

    We use Intragale, a web self-scheduling service, and it is great. You indicate the shifts you want to work. You can indicate specific days you need off and leave a message why you need them off.

    Many of these CNA schools are just private companies trying to make a profit. Some nursing homes and hospitals will train you for free.

    We use them in the ED and they are great - no more running around trying to find people. Really good when an acute patient comes in and youn need the doc right away.
