    Jmedina46,

I think in previous years, people were getting awarded before September. And most people got the award letters about 5-6 weeks after the initial email contact. I think that's why we're all so anxious. It's been 5 weeks for most of us in the first round of emails. Also, last year they awarded over 900 nurses for initial awards, so thankfully, that's way more than 2 per state! I think that link just talks about the first 100 nurses awarded that year.

Now if only they would start awarding us!

So.. I wonder if that means letters will arrive then? Or if that's when they start signing??

I feel like I've heard people just randomly getting deposits of money without a letter, but I'm not sure about emails. I think people were still getting emails kind of late in the game though. It just seems like people were starting to get awarded earlier in previous years. I know it's a lot of work, but they obviously have made some decisions since some people "unofficially" know.

"The deadline for submitting an application is:February 8, 2011. The review and award process may take up to four months to complete."

Pretty sure it's been over 4 months!

I'm also starting to get a little cranky, Amy. No letter here either today.

NurseAndLovinIt- Your HR should know. But I'm pretty sure it can change from year to year. My friend's hospital was a DSH last year, but didn't qualify this year.

Suzy, I'm pretty sure I'm right around where you are too! It's sad! Just put us out of our misery already!

I'm sorry KeeKee! And everyone else! I just keep expecting it to be there since it's been about 5 weeks... which should be around when we start hearing. Checking the mail has never been so exciting and disappointing!

    Mail is here... no letter!

    Congratulations Leemar!

We are also wedding planning... but worrying about the money factor makes it a little less fun to plan since we're paying for it! Good luck to you!

Suzy, you're going to do great!

Maybe we should start making bets on when this is going to happen? I'm betting September 30th... at least that's what it feels like!

So, technically, we have another week or so?? Wasn't it about 5 weeks last year? Why are they doing things so late this year!?

Congratulations Sully! So, based on what he said, when did you think your letter would arrive?

I think you can apply again? But I don't know that for sure. I thought as long as you didn't have any other obligation, you could apply.

I guess I was just thinking that letters would start rolling out this week... I thought one of the 2 that knows they got it said their person said it should be about a week until she got her letter?

That's exactly how I'm feeling, Suzy!

I think the people who know already had responded to that email and got information that way.

Except in previous years, it seems like award letters started going out sooner. Sounds like she was just telling you what she was supposed to. I doubt she actually knows. Although, this is already seeming later than previous years, so they could actually be waiting until September this year. Who knows? Someone had mentioned their attn person told them they would get a letter in a week or so I thought?
