  1. LPN's in Endo??

The Endo unit I work in has several LPNs. They do patient admits and recovery, as well as teching in the procedure room.
  2. First week of orientation down

I do like Endoscopy. I am now in my 5th week of orientation. I went from Admit to the procedure room. On our unit, there is a group of Colon/Rectal docs, and another group of GI docs. I've been mostly in Colon/rectal, which is a little slower pac...
  3. Older new grad- need help to find 1st job

I say go for whatever you're interested in. I worked on Med/surg many years ago as an LPN, and hated it. Of course we had 9 patients at night back then. If you find a job and don't like it, you don't have to stay. Get some experience to put on y...
  4. Older new grad- need help to find 1st job

Hey, Congrats on finishing. I am 51, and finished my RN last December. I started my first RN job 4 weeks ago in outpatient endoscopy. I knew at my age I didn't want to take on floor nursing. It took me four months and lots of job applications to ...
  5. Your posts have made me feel more comfortable, and confident in my own judgement. I wasn't sure if I was just being a "new grad" and worrying about things that weren't really important, or not. I've been an LPN for 12years, but this is my first RN...
  6. Thanks again, for the info. Our doctors don't say what meds to give, or how much to give during procedures. We have a written order that says to start at 2mg Versed and 50mg Demerol (or 50mcg of Fentanyl)...and then titer to maintain conscious sed...
  7. Thanks, Brownbook, The info is very helpful. We use Demerol/versed or Fentanyl/versed combos (depending on the doctor). I don't know if everyone does conscious sedation the same or not. I'm being taught to give an initial dose of 50mg Demerol or 50mc...
  8. I just finished my first week of orientation in the procedure room (3rd week over all). I've seen about 25 procedures, and I think my preceptor is doing a great job; but I would still like to get some input from other endoscopy nurses. I'm trying to ...
  9. First week of orientation down

WEll, I got through my first week in outpatient Endoscopy. Over all, I think it went well. I worked with a preceptor, and frequently invited critism, correction, suggestions, etc. She didn't really give any negative comments....just said I need to "f...
  10. For all INFP personality types only

Sorry to sound stupid; but what does INFP and INFJ mean? I still don't get all the abbreviations people use on the internet
  11. Input from Endoscopy nurses, Please

    Thanks for the info. :)
  12. Input from Endoscopy nurses, Please

Thanks for the input and encouragement. It's good to hear from someone around my own age (51). I was thinking the same thing about being able to leave work at the door on my way out :) Any suggestions for being on my feet for 10hrs. I was wonderi...

  14. Got my first RN job today!

It looks like 4-7 months is the average time it's taking new grads to find a job these days. I just talked to another "new hire" at our facility, and she's been looking since last September. Don't loose heart. You'll find something.
  15. Got my first RN job today!

Hey misia84, Don't get discouraged. I know it's hard not to. Counting all the jobs at my own facility, and the ones at other facilities, I'm guessing I applied for about 75 since December. I even started applying for jobs in surrounding cities, an...
