  1. Protocol for HIV partner notification

Regarding testing - you might check the fine print of your hospital's admission papers - where I was doing clinicals patients give consent to testing whether or not they know it. It's in the "fine print."
  2. Wink Scrubs

Just thought I'd drop back in to this thread to post that Wink has different lines, and each line has it's on fabric content. Apparently a couple of the lines have fabric with a bit of stretch in them.
  3. White Scrubs that Aren't see-thru?

Winks scrubs (Origins line) are made from a crisper, heavier fabric than a lot of the other brands. Furthermore, they have awesome pockets. :) And don't forget to wear skin-toned undies underneath the white. I know it's not what you want to re...
  4. Wink Scrubs

I have one scrub set each by Med Couture, NrG (makes Greys), and Winks. Winks scrubs don't have the stretch that the other two have, but I love the crispness of the fabric - not roughness - and I love the POCKETS! I'm doing phlebotomy clinicals rig...
  5. The big D---Debt.

It seems to me that you are in such a hurry to make up for your past mistakes, that you are hurrying into another mistake - taking on too much debt! You may have wasted years of your life being a New Orleans party girl, and I understand that you don'...
  6. Grey's Anatomy? Scrubs too?

Just an fyi. :) Barco makes both the Gray's Anatomy scrubs and the NrG scrubs and they can be mixed and matched, but the NrG scrubs have 4% spandex in the blend, which makes them fit and move beautifully.

As an over-fifty hoping to find employment soon - Hair color Updated wardrobe Teeth whitener Botox - it's temporary. Contacts. Younger women can get away with glasses easier than we can. Good luck!
  8. Do you do venipunctures as a nurse?

I'm doing a phlebotomy clinical right now, but was a patient just a couple of weeks ago in a highly rated hospital in the Houston area where the nurses do all the draws. My nurses were fabulous, but they didn't follow any order of draw that I could ...
  9. Question about drawing blood on an inpatient

I just finished a phlebotomy course. If you're going to use torn tape, place it on the back of your non-dominant, gloved hand. Your gloves will be cleaner than most any other surface, even if they aren't sterile.
  10. concierge ? Really?

One of our local, well-known hospitals advertises executive health assessments with a personal physician in luxurious surroundings with all the trappings necessary for the busy executive. It kinda' rubs me the wrong way. :)
  11. "Medic" to replace the term "nurse"

I think the term "nurse" reflects the nurturing part of the role, and if guys are offended by the term, they might not be such great nurturers, anyway. Basically, it sounds like "some" guys don't want to lower themselves to call themselves nurses. ...
  12. Are you insulted????

I think I would ask those nurses if they had complexes because the "settled" for being nurses, instead of doctors.
  13. How about a reality show about Nurses....like "COPS"

I wish the medical dramas including more story lines involving nurses. As it is, the few story lines that do include nurses are sexual/romantic in nature and seem to imply that the doctors are slumming when they lower themselves to get involved with...
  14. Gift ideas for my stepfather, the soon-to-be LPN

A gift certificate for scrubs, and maybe some extra nice long white tees to wrap? A really nice pen?
  15. Unhappy and Depressed

If you like the science aspects, perhaps you could consider laboratory work? Clinical laboratory technologist comes to mind. Good luck. If at all possible, I would finish the nursing degree first.
