    When I started in this role it was 30% admin. No hiring firing or discipline though. I mean meeting with directors hospital driven "things"(not just initiatives in my units). I asked to come off of some of those things and now it is 10%.

    Lactate is a byproduct of anaerobic metabolism. When muscles organs etc run with out enough 02 it builds up... The reason your muscles burn after a run. We use lactate as a measure of tissue perfusion.

    Why was he admitted to the hospital? Infection? any cancer? Sounds like liver involvement to me. Lactate was high because he was running on that anaerobic metabolism thing :) sob was r/t him trying to blow off the co2 from being in lactic acidosis.

    Sure! The hospital is 250 beds, in am In VA. Yes we are APNs, but no prescriptive authority which is irritating but it's a conservative state. Hopefully that will change! I am very lucky to be in this role.

    Unfortunately many schools do not train students to be professionals they crank out workers to do tasks. Those of us that do work to improve YOUR work environment help to sustain the "benefits" of your "job". I do not understand how it is just a job....
